Having chromebooks will help bring my classroom into the 21st century. Currently, my students only have one computer available to them in my classroom. Having the Chromebooks will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. Students will be using the Chromebooks for research purposes for their STEAM projects. With our current level of technology, my students are unable to do STEAM projects with fidelity. They will have the opportunity to research problems such as "sustainable transportation", and "vibrant green spaces", which are our STEAM project topics this year. Another way they will be used is to help differentiate instruction. With our Science Fusion curriculum we have the ability to have students complete digital lessons online if they are having difficulty grasping a concept. They can also do digital labs to help ensure understanding of each topic. In math class, I will be able to download apps for various math practice or even for a math center. This will be used to differentiate for my lower level learners as well as to enrich for my higher level learners. My students deserve a level of technology that will meet their needs as learners and bring my classroom into the 21st century. Giving low-income students access to technology is a way that we can invest in their future. This grant will be a great asset and will bring us closer to that goal.
