  • Hear, Hear! Math For All!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to this project and giving all my students access to technology. I like to upload video tutorials for the different math topics, and these headphones will allow all my students to watch them quietly and at their own pace in class. Many of my students do not have a pair of headphones that they can bring to class.

The computer mice makes navigating online resources a breeze. I am really looking forward to fully implementing these into my classroom and personalizing the learning targets for each student.”

    With gratitude,

  • Math Seats

    Funded May 1, 2018

I really love these stools! They make the classroom feel much more professional and cohesive. They allow students to easily collaborate with one another and comfortably enjoy class. The stools are very nice quality and feel secure to sit it. I really enjoy sitting side-by-side students and working with them; the height of stool is just right! The stools are used for tall desks, and they make such an impact with students; they WANT to be in the class and work at these desks with these stools. That is a great feeling!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Van Dunk

  • Flexible Seats

    Funded May 1, 2018

These stools got put to use right when they arrived. My largest class was in session when they arrived, and they eagerly helped me unpack the box so that they could enjoy the seats! Students closely inspected the seats and all agreed that they are very nice! I really appreciate that these seats are stackable in case I ever need to push them to the side. They are light weight, easy to move, and great for pulling up a seat alongside one another. These stools allow for flexible seating arrangements and give students a different experience in class.”

    With gratitude,

  • Up High With Math

    Funded May 1, 2018

I was so excited to get standing desks for my classroom, and students were excited to have something new too. However, standing for 95 min can be tiring! So these stools were the perfect finish to the various seating arrangements in my classroom! The moment they arrived, students were so excited to use them and made many remarks about how nice they look. One student said "they look like they belong in a coffee shop". These stools got students very excited and energized, which is much needed at this point in the year.”

  • Math in Pairs!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

My favorite part about these desks is that they can be configured in so many different ways! I can make pairs, group of 4 or more, or even leave them individual. I have gotten MANY comments about how shiny and new the desks look. Students really appreciate having something new and beautiful in their classroom.

Right now students are using them to work in groups of 4, but as finals approach, I know that the desks will perfectly adapt to my needs then. In the future, I will use them for stations, small groups, or even small group presentations.”

  • Sit and Stand Desks

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

From the first day that these desks were set up, I had students requesting, begging, to stand at these desks! I love to see my students excited and motivated about the materials that are available for them in the classroom. It make sends the message that they are cared for and important to the world around them (even to people they have never met).

Right now, students are using the desks to work in groups of 4 as they stand around the desks. I am noticing that the desks are large enough to accommodate even more students if I want to expand the groups in the future. I am so thankful that the possibilities are endless with these versatile desks!”

  • STANDing Ovation for Math

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I LOVE these desks, and so do my students! On the first day they were used in class I had a student who normally crouches over his desk, standing at full attention the entire period! I know that this change has already made an impact on his attentiveness in class, and I feel so grateful that you donated for this project!

Moving forward, I am looking to use the desks in creative configurations to create interesting groups and stations in class. The desks allow me to use them in many different ways and they are impacting the learning of MANY students. What could be better than than?”

  • Stand Up for Math

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation! These stand-up desks are making quite a statement in my classroom! Students are shocked to learn that they will STAND for the lesson :) So far students have been excited to try it out, and I am learning how to best use them as well.

I really love these these desks are GOOD for students and they they are getting the opportunity to have this high quality equipment available to them in high school. Many students did not know that these desks are used by many professionals.

It is so encouraging to get support like this!”

The students at my school are in a low-income, high risk environment. One goal is to prepare student for a career when they graduate, but I want to make sure they are prepared to go to college as well. When asked who they know that went to college besides a teacher, only 25% of students were able to say that they had a family member who was or had been in college. Students come from all kinds of backgrounds: foster care, single family homes, or living with their grandparents. Students have family members with addictions, who are in jail, or have been killed. The idea of "college ready" seems far off for some of these students, but I know that with the correct materials, they can and will be successful. I don't like to label them as "at-risk" students. Instead I think of them as "at-promise" students; each one has promise and a future.
