  • Feeding the Body and Mind

    Funded Nov 17, 2023

My students loved the snacks we received! Their eyes lit up when I pulled out the boxes of chips and fruit snacks, and they were so impressed when I explained we were given them by donors who cared about giving them quality snacks so that they could learn. When students showed up to tutoring, they were hungry and needed an extra snack to tide them over to dinner, and these snacks met that need. Having these snacks got students motivated, focused, and excited while doing math (which is no small feat). Thank you for your generosity and kindness!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Van Dunk

  • Tech In The STEM Classroom

    Funded Dec 22, 2019

Thank you so much for funding this project! I'm very excited to use this technology in my classroom in the new year. These supplies will allow more students to sit up close and engage in learning. I am looking forward to the positive change this will bring! Happy Holidays!”

    With gratitude,

  • Printing Supplies for Students

    Funded Apr 4, 2019

Because of your generous funding of this project, students have had access to printing out assignments, pictures for projects, or handouts needed for class. Many students do not have a printer at home, so they are relived to know that there are supplies at school designed for them to use.

I have also used the paper and toner to make handouts, flipbooks, and math games for students to use during instructional time.

Lastly, the paper filer has brought a new level of organization to the classroom! Mounting it to the wall has freed up desk space and reduced clutter.

Thank you for meeting the needs of my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Van Dunk

  • Small Groups in Math

    Funded Jan 10, 2019

Thank you for funding this project that allows for creative group work! With the painters tape, Velcro strips, and two gallon Ziploc bags I have been able to store group materials on the side of the desk so that it does not take up space on the surface of the desk. Students noticed and commented on what a smart idea it was. The materials are still accessible, but they are not in the way of work space.

I was able to use the other materials when I created a math "Escape Room". Students LOVED this lesson and I'm sure it is one of the lesson they will remember forever.”

  • Organizing Technology

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

All the organizing products have arrived just in time for a new school year. The red boxes have added a warmness to the class and they are the perfect size to organize the array of headphones and mice available for students to use. I love it when a classroom is organized in useful, practical, and aesthetic ways. Many students (and teachers) have commented on the ease with which the materials can be accessed, used, and then put away. Of course the mice a huge help to completing projects on the computer. And the Popsicle sticks have student names on it and are used as I call on students in class. Thank you so much for making the beginning of the year such a success! I appreciate your support of not just this project but of all students and educators; we are stronger together!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Van Dunk

  • Math Class Chairs

    Funded May 8, 2018

The chairs have arrived and they are perfect! One student came into class and said, "Oh! I love new chairs because they are so clean and don't have any gum on them" and then proceeded to run her finger under the chair with a satisfied smile. I loved this moment because it shows that students do recognize quality in a classroom and appreciate it when teachers go the extra mile to have a clean, orderly classroom. And none of this could be accomplished without your generous support. Thank you so much for donating to my class and supporting not just this project but teacher and students everywhere!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Van Dunk

The students at my school are in a low-income, high risk environment. One goal is to prepare student for a career when they graduate, but I want to make sure they are prepared to go to college as well. When asked who they know that went to college besides a teacher, only 25% of students were able to say that they had a family member who was or had been in college. Students come from all kinds of backgrounds: foster care, single family homes, or living with their grandparents. Students have family members with addictions, who are in jail, or have been killed. The idea of "college ready" seems far off for some of these students, but I know that with the correct materials, they can and will be successful. I don't like to label them as "at-risk" students. Instead I think of them as "at-promise" students; each one has promise and a future.
