Making Science and Social Studies Real in Kindergaten
Funded Dec 7, 2023The class was so excited to see the supplies arrive to our classroom. They were buzzing with excitement to know what project we were about to do. When I showed the project example, they were amazed! And when they found out these supplies came from you, they were so grateful. Our projects turned out so precious. The class then made videos to share their knowledge.
Our first project was to make weather tangible. Each student made a book with 4 transparencies sheets. The based page had the student's face and t-shirt and pants. On the following transparencies, they added clothing and objects in the sky to change the weather. For example, for cloudy weather, they added a jacket; for rainy weather, they added an umbrella and rain boots.
The next project will be for our ants unit. We will be making a model of an ant hill dissection. Using the paper tubes, students will model the tunnels the ants make in their homes. The model magic will be used to create their own ant models, thinking about the parts of an ant.
We are so thankful for your support and generosity. You have enriched the learning of our kindergarten students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tsang
