Digital Resources (T.P.T.) for All-Star Kids
Funded Jan 8, 2021Thank you for funding my "Digital Resources (T.P.T.) for All-Star Kids" proposal! Your kindness and generosity for my students has touched our hearts! I have been teaching "fully remote" this entire school year (and still am until June 18). My students meet with me every day to have online school through a computer screen. They show up on time, with smiles on their faces, eager to learn and participate! I am so proud of my students (and their supportive families) for taking on the challenge of remote learning this year - they have truly risen to the occasion and continue to impress me every single day! #veryproudteacher
Remote learning has required all teachers this school year to rethink, revise, and restructure the way students are taught, and how students demonstrate what they have learned. Nearly all assignments and activities in my class are completed online daily using the learning management system "Seesaw". The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card made it possible for me to download an extensive array of resources (Math, Literacy, Science, and Writing). I posted these resources on Seesaw, and then my students were able to use them. In addition, I printed out copies of Teachers Pay Teachers resources for my students so that they could use them at home during our live online lessons.
One of the Teachers Pay Teachers resources that I downloaded that my students are currently using in Science is a Marine Life Research Guide. I printed out special notebooks for my students that have facts and scientific diagrams for 15 different sea creatures. The students are learning about each animal's appearance, habitat, diet, life cycle, adaptations, predators, and more. The culminating activity for this unit is that each student will be making a "My Ocean Animal Report" flip-book! The students are very excited about this project!
I am so thankful for your generous donations that funded this proposal! The Teachers Pay Teachers resources are being gratefully used and enjoyed by my students (and me) this school year.”

All-Star Kids Need Distance Learning Toolkit Supplies
Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you for funding my "All-Star Kids Need Distance Learning Toolkit Supplies" proposal! Your kindness and generosity for my students has touched our hearts!♥ The headphones, the addition and subtraction flashcards, and the whiteboard erasers have been an important part of our distance learning materials that we needed for our "remote" classroom. My students were so excited when they received their bin of distance learning supplies in early September - they couldn't wait to use them!
The students are using their headphones every day.🎧 The headphones have really helped my students to be able to concentrate more readily as they are learning remotely from home using a tablet. It is easy for students to become distracted during distance learning and independent work time because of the background noise from their home or daycare - the headphones solved that issue.
The addition➕ and subtraction➖ flashcards have helped my students to significantly improve in their fact fluency! They have gotten much faster at solving addition and subtraction facts, and aren't counting on their fingers nearly as much as they used to!
The whiteboard erasers work so well - we use mini whiteboards daily during remote instruction and need to erase them often. The erasers leave the white boards very clean - no ink "shadow" left behind! They are an amazing tool!
I am so thankful for your generous donations that funded this proposal! These distance learning toolkit supplies are being gratefully enjoyed by my students this school year.🌟”

All-Star Kids Want to Know "Who Was" and "What Was"!
Funded Oct 26, 2018Thank you for funding our "All-Star Kids Want to Know "Who Was" and "What Was"!" proposal! Your kindness and generosity for my students has touched our hearts. The books arrived to much fanfare and excitement! We had a special "unboxing" of the books - I wish you could have seen the smiles on the students' faces as each new book was taken out of the big box! Lots of "oohs" and "aahs"!
The students are incredibly happy each week on Monday mornings when it is time to "shop" (choose) for new books for their Book Boxes! They can't wait to get their hands on these high-interest, non-fiction, informational books! The "Who Was" and "What Was" books have been an amazing, fun, and motivational way for my students to learn about historical events (i.e. Great Chicago Fire, Hurricane Katrina) and famous Americans (i.e. Harriet Tubman, Walt Disney etc.). We've also been using the "Who Was" and "What Was" books to learn about non-fiction text features (table of contents, charts, maps, diagrams, glossary, timelines, etc.). When my students meet with their fifth grade "Reading Buddies" on Wednesdays, they enjoy reading one of the "Who Was" or "What Was" books with their buddy and teaching them something new!
I am so grateful for your generous donations that funded the purchase of the "Who Was" and "What Was" books! Please know that your donation has motivated my students to become strong, independent, knowledgeable readers!”

Funded Mar 29, 2017Thank you for funding my "All-Star Kids Need Wiggle Seats!" proposal! Your kindness and generosity for my students has touched our hearts! The beautiful blue "wiggle seats" (inflatable vestibular two-sided balance discs, flat on one side and nubby for tactile feedback on the other) have been an extremely worthwhile addition to our classroom. My students were so excited when they saw the wiggle seats for the very first time! They couldn't wait to use them!
The students are using the wiggle seats every day. The wiggle seats have really helped my students to focus and concentrate more readily as they are doing their work. As our school is "open concept" in design (no walls between the classroom spaces), it was easy for some students to become distracted during instruction and work time. The wiggle seats have also helped my students to focus while taking tests and assessments. Another bonus is that the students can bring their wiggle seats with them when the class meets on the carpet for a story or instruction during a "mini-lesson". The wiggle seats are tough and sturdy, and also easy to keep clean.
I am so thank thankful for your generous donations that funded this proposal! The "wiggle seats" will be gratefully enjoyed by my students for many years to come!”

Funded Nov 20, 2015Thank you for funding my "All-Star Learners Proud to Have Privacy!" proposal! Your kindness and generosity for my students has touched our hearts! The beautiful green cardboard privacy partition screens and the sturdy blue storage rack have been an extremely worthwhile addition to our classroom. My students were so excited when they saw the new screens for the very first time! They couldn't wait to use them!
The students are using the privacy partition screens during "Writers Workshop". The screens have really helped my students to have focused concentration during writing time. As our school is "open concept" in design (no walls between the classroom spaces), it was easy for some students to become distracted during writing time. We have also been using the privacy partition screens during tests and assessments. My students now feel more confident during tests, knowing that their neighbors aren't "peeking" at their work. In addition, I've observed my students on many occasions setting up a privacy screen on their desks when they feel like they could use a little extra help with concentration (with no prompting from me!).
Chevron, I am so thank thankful for your generous donation that funded my proposal! The privacy partition screens and the storage rack will be gratefully enjoyed by my students for many years to come!”

All-Star Kids Want To Be In The Know With Scholastic News!
Funded Sep 30, 2013Thank you for funding our "All-Star Kids Want To Be 'In The Know' With Scholastic News" proposal! Your kindness and generosity for my students has touched our hearts. The Scholastic News magazines arrived near the end of October to much excitement!
The students are incredibly excited each week when I hand out the new issue! They can't wait to get their hands on the colorful, high-interest pages! The Scholastic News magazines have been an amazing, fun, and easy way for my students to learn about current events (the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia), holidays (such as Chinese New Year), famous Americans (such as Harriet Tubman), and non-fiction text features (headlines, charts, maps, diagrams, key words, etc.). In addition, we love the online component! Our subscription comes with special access to the Scholastic News website, which has wonderful short videos and reading/phonics games that complement each issue. My students also take home their Scholastic News to practice reading aloud to family members - our reading fluency is really improving because of this!
I am so grateful for your generous donations that funded the subscription to the Scholastic News magazine! Please know that your donation has motivated my students to become strong, independent, knowledgeable readers!”

Funded Jan 18, 2013Thank you to everyone who helped my students get a brand new Apple iPad (64GB with a protective red case) for our classroom! The students are so happy whenever I set up the new iPad for us to use! The iPad is an amazing tool that helps my students to be engaged, motivated, and excited about learning. Many of my students do not have any technology at home, and it is so wonderful to give them the opportunity to use an iPad! With a program called "Reflector" on my classroom computer, I am able to project the iPad's screen via our LCD projector so that we can read/listen to books, watch our classroom photo slideshow, play reading/literacy/math games (apps), have direct teacher instruction, or do research on the Internet. Our iPad will receive years of beneficial use by hundreds of students. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and support of my students!”

Funded Oct 14, 2011Thank you for funding my class' "All-Star Kids Need All-Star Book Baskets!" DonorsChoose.org proposal! Your generosity and thoughtfulness for my students has touched our hearts! The children were so thrilled when the colorful (bright red, blue, green, and yellow) book bins, baskets, and labels arrived!
Our classroom library has literally been TRANSFORMED... from books placed in an odd assortment of cracked plastic baskets and cardboard boxes, to that of a beautiful, amazingly organized library that is easy for the students to navigate!
The new book bins and baskets are extremely sturdy and durable! All of the bins and baskets have new labels, which makes it easy for the students to find books at their "Just Right" level and at their "interest" level. The children have also learned organizational and responsibility skills by now knowing "which books go where".
I am so appreciative of your generous donations that funded the book bins, baskets, and labels! They will be gratefully enjoyed by my students for many years to come!

All-Star Kids Love To Draw & Write Amazing Stories!
Funded Oct 8, 2011Thank you for funding my "All-Star Kids Love To Draw&Write Amazing Stories!" proposal! Your kindness and generosity for my students has touched our hearts! The Crayola thin-line markers, giant Post-It note easel pads, and "How To Draw..." books arrived in late October - this was our second DonorsChoose.org project that was funded this school year and my students were so excited when they saw the materials!
The students are using the Crayola thin-line markers for writing their stories during "Writers Workshop" - they are thrilled to be able to choose their favorite color of marker, and this has motivated them to sketch and then write such creative stories! The children are becoming masters at "quick sketches" thanks to practicing with the "How To Draw..." books! Also, using the "How To Draw..." books is now a favorite Rainy Day Recess activity! I have been able to easily model writing strategies using the fantastic giant Post-It note pads - I can stick and re-stick the pages on any wall/board in the classroom or on the bulletin board in the hallway!
I am so thank thankful for your generous donations that funded the Writers Workshop materials! The markers, easel pads, and "How To Draw..." books will be gratefully enjoyed by my students and me for years to come! ”
