Funded Aug 23, 2017Thank you for your donations! Each penny donated has helped to make my classroom a successful functioning environment for my students to learn in. Although some of these items may not come in direct use for the students, they had to the organization of the environment. Magnetic bins help to keep the circle time area functioning and orderly so that there is not much down time for my students to lose focus. File folders are helpful in organizing the students files, weekly work and activities. However, they are also used to create games and fun activities for the students. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to contribute to my classroom!”

Increasing Early Literacy Skills One Book at a Time!
Funded Jul 12, 2017Thank you so much for your donation! This project is being donated to Autistic Support K-2 class at a public school in the School District of Philadelphia. This district has faced a number of financial hardships throughout the years and this year is no different. Materials have been ordered for my class, however it is not nearly enough to meet the needs and goals of my students.
This project contained leveled book up to DRA level D and other hands on ELA products. These books will help my emergent readers practiced their skills and move towards independence. The other materials, such as Wiki Sticks, are a hands on, fun materials to practice letter recognition. All of these materials will support ELA growth.
Once again, thank you so much for your donation and continued support. It is extremely meaningful in the success of my classroom!”

Autistic Support Starting From the Beginning!
Funded Jun 12, 2017Thank you so much for your continued generosity and support for education! All of the materials in this project have greatly contributed to my classroom setting. Although some of the items may seem as though they are more appropriate for an office, in an autistic classroom there is a great need for materials such as Velcro and bins. Picture schedules are used daily and velcro is a useful resource in allowing the students to manipulate their schedules. Bins help to keep my classroom organized and functioning. Every penny of your donation has been used in a meaningful way! I can not thank you enough!”

Staying Engaged to Learn Successfully!
Funded Mar 8, 2017Thank you! Thank you for your generous donation and your ability to add to my students success. As students with special needs, my kids tend to require a more hands on experience and a higher level of engagement to remain focused and on task. Games such as Main Idea Bingo and Fact and Opinion Bingo provide my class with a fun and interactive way to learn. They enjoy competing with one another while improving their comprehension.
The novels that were a part of this project were a great way for me to collaborate with the general education curriculum. My students though the books were funny and exciting and looked forward to reading them. Reading novels made them feel like they were "the same" as their general education peers that were reading novels. Your donation is appreciate more than you know and understand. Thank you again!”

Chromebooks for Continued Success!
Funded Feb 2, 2017Thank you for your generous donation towards bringing technology into my classroom. Technology is used in many ways within the classroom. As a special education teacher, my students take part in both reading and math interventions. Using computer based interventions is an effective tool in improving their success. We are currently using Think Through Math and Imagine Learning. These two interventions are not only educational, but engaging and fun.
As technology is becoming more popular with the younger generation, using it as a learning tool is encouraging to them. They are very responsive to working on the computer and engaging in computer based activities. The computer helps the students feel in control of their learning and we could not be more grateful for your donation!”

Funded Dec 17, 2016Thank you for your donations! I love to read and it is my hope to share this love with my students. As an urban public school, it can be difficult to receive the materials necessary at times. Lower level chapter books are a great resource in order to spread the love of reading with my students. This books will be the start of a new chapter in my students reading process. They are fun, silly, yet well written books that can be used for a number of skills. I look forward to exploring these books with my students.
The use of Zingo, a sight word game with make learning sight words more fun. The students are already exciting to play, little do they know they are reinforcing their skills through each games! For my lowest learners, the word wall will be a great resource. It is a hands on material that will help them to identify word families, rhyming words and help them with pronunciation. Your generous is always greatly appreciated!”

Funded Aug 22, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you so much for your donation to my project Supplies to Help Us Get By! Although these items (pencil sharpener, dry erase paper, digraph domino's) may seem small and possibly insignificant, they have a major impact in the classroom. Each day pencils break or disappear and finding a good sharpener to make sure my students are prepared is essential. Digraph domino's are a hit! They are a fun and exciting method of reinforcing skills that my students are working on. They are colorful and help keep my students engaged. The dry erase contact paper has proven to be helpful in that board space in a shared classroom can be limited. Being able to change any surface into a dry erase material is helpful when teaching. All of these items have made a difference in my classroom and I hope that you understand how grateful we are for your donation!”

Funded Jul 1, 2016Dear Donors:
Thank you for your extremely generous donation! Working in public schools is not an easy task for teachers in regards to obtaining the necessary materials for our students success. As a learning support teacher of students with special needs, it tends to be difficult to find materials for our students. Beyond creativity on our parts, Donors Choose has been a help beyond words. My students are exposed to science and social studies in their general education classrooms daily, however they are preforming below grade level expectations and the material tends to be too difficult for them. Using Time and Scholastic magazines provides a resource to help expose these students to events occurring in the world around them. The structure of the magazines excites them, while the images and fun articles keep the students engaged. I was excited and impressed to witness how interested my students were in the upcoming election. There polite debating was even more impressive. Thank you again for your generosity, as it will make a bigger impact then either of us could have imagined.”

Mrs. Trama
