White Boards, Markers and Journals, Oh My!

Funded Aug 4, 2020

Due to the pandemic, the school year has started in an unpredicted way. Both students and parents have been adjusting to Distance Learning. It has not been an easy transition for all but having materials available for the students really makes everyone's day a little brighter. The first week of school I met my students and their parents at school. On this day, I presented them with the materials and I told the parents that these materials had been donated by some generous people. They were so grateful and happy!

My students and I meet several times a day on zoom. We use the white boards and white board markers multiple times a day. They have been the biggest lifesavers for checking for understanding and maintaining student engagement. Some of the activities that we have used the white boards and markers for are: identifying letters, writing cvc words, writing sight words, quick assessments, number recognition and drawing shapes. The students really enjoy writing words and racing their classmates to see who writes them the fastest. The pencil boxes have also been extremely useful to keep all of their materials in a safe place. I used velcro to add their log in information to their pencil boxes. This has helped all students since they use the log in information on a daily basis.

Many parents have lost their jobs due to the pandemic; therefore, these materials have definitely helped them as well. Thank you so much for your generosity. We are all so grateful!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Torres
