Empowering Students Through Art in Math Class
Funded Aug 2, 2016Dear Donors,
We are greatly enjoying are art supplies in math class! In the pictures you can see that we have made charts to go with our animal shelter donations project, we have drawn angry birds to help learn about multiplying multi digit numbers, and we have cut and glues book catalogs for a shopping project to practice adding and subtracting decimals. My students are engaged in their lessons and learning from their projects! We are having fun!
Next we will be making tally charts and bar graphs with our construction paper and we will be building 3-D cities with our art supplies to learn about area, perimeter, and volume. We are very grateful for these materials and very blessed to have such generous people to help use to have engaging lessons in math!
Thank you!”

Learning About Ecosystems
Funded Mar 12, 2016Words cannot fully show how much your donations have meant to my students! We have already dived right into our Ecosystems unit! All the materials in the ecosystems kit has allowed my students such wonderful hands on experiences! Such as see ghost shrimp in the river ecosystem tank, watching caterpillars grow, and watching their Terraqua bottles grow! Some of my students have even managed to successfully grow corn indoors in their bottles! Their bottles have fish in the aquatic part and have been living for going on four weeks now! My students dissected owl pellets and learned about food webs all using their new ecosystems energy kit! We cannot thank you enough for the opportunity for these experiences!”

Funded Oct 21, 2015Thank you so much for your donations! This storage bin has improved the space in our room greatly. My students went from sharing printer boxes under their tables to having a space of their own. The students are enjoying having more room at their tables. They were beyond excited to open the huge box that came to our classroom and to get their bins and put their labels on them, It is because of your generosity my students have hope, hope that their are still great people like you. Without donors like you thousands of classrooms in the United States would go without. We appreciate all that you do!”

Funded Apr 1, 2015Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom! My students were amazed by the telescopes. Some had never seen a telescope in person before! They were in awe that we were able to see the trees all the way across the school grounds just from our classroom window.
We will use these telescopes to help students better understand how scientist see far way objects not only in space but here on Earth. This opportunity to learn hands on will help our students better remember what they are learning in science class :).”

Help Get my Students Computers in the Classroom
Funded Sep 16, 2014Words just can not accurately describe our thank you to you. As a first year teacher this donation has made a huge impact for my classroom. When I first told my students that we could possibly have the opportunity to have computers in our room to use when we needed was overwhelming. It was no were close to the joy I saw when I announced to them that our project was funded and we would actually be getting the Chrome books! (I think I was a even more excited to know that the donation came from you guys!)
I am currently using these Chrome books in several ways. One way is for a math games center during math small group times. Three students at a time will use the Chrome books to access math educational games on sites such as mathplayground.com. I am impressed at how well my students share the computers and are awesome about ending their session on time and allowing the next group to play. I also am using these Chrome Books for science research projects. We recently did projects on severe weather and those students I have that do not have computer access at home used these Chrome books to do their research so they could have the same advantage as their classmates who have the means to do their research at home. I again was very impressed with the number of students who would make the time to come by my classroom to do their research, they were all just very eager to be able to use the technology for some the first time using any kind of laptop computer. I also use the computer for those earlier finisher students who need something more challenging to work on. Our Math textbook as some great online activities for our students and with the computers I can now let them access these resources.
I am currently showing the students how to make slide shows and documents. I want them to learn the ins and outs of how to use these computers to further their education and give them an advantage when they get older. We can not tell you just how thankful we are for your generosity! I am so very thankful to have the opportunity to have these computers and I can see what a difference they are making already for my students.”

Science supplies For Fourth Graders
Funded Aug 22, 2014We are very much enjoying the science supplies! When we received our items in the mail my students were ecstatic and eager to start using our new science items. We first used our new set of classroom thermometers to learn how to read a thermometer and how to measure the temperature of different things. These thermometers made it possible for me to plan lessons that would get my students out of the classroom and doing hands on activities. With our class weather map i was able to help the students better understand how weather data is collected and how to read the symbols on a weather map.
We recently planted our Tickle Me plants and the students are having a great time watching them sprout. With these plants I plan to show the students about plant and animal adaptations and behavioral characteristics of plants. I have several lessons planned around these plans as soon as they finish growing.
We are very excited to use the rest of our items such as our prisms when we get to our light unit later in the school year. All of our new science items give a great boost to my students learning just my letting them see in person or do in person rather than watching a video. We thank you with all our heart and are very grateful for you to give us the opportunity to have these materials and have the chance to have more hands on activities in science this school year.”
