Let's Play Together!
Funded Jan 13, 2020Thank you so much for your generosity! Recess is now filled with more fun and engaging games. Each day, my students share the responsibility of bringing the balls, hoops, cones, and bean bags outside. The class also accounts for the return of all the equipment, so we will be able to enjoy them for many days to come.
My students were so excited when we received the recess equipment. We worked together to pump up the new balls, and figure out the best way to label the equipment. My students' smiles brightened the room. Now, I hear their chatter and laughter as they play together outside. Since there are more playing options and choices, more students are happily playing and getting along.”

Sensational STEM Learning
Funded Aug 29, 2016Dear Donors,
Through your contributions, my students received non-fiction and fiction science literature and STEM kits. These kits focus on science, technology, engineering, and math skills. My students collaborated in teams to create a plan to solve a problem, build a tool to solve the problem, and finally test their plan. Students were able to modify or revise if needed. My students also needed to use their communication and listening skills for their group to be successful.
As soon as my students saw the kits, I was bombarded by students asking, "When do we get to try those?" It took a little time to begin, but after the first kit, Well Rescue, my students were hooked! They were so excited to work to together and try different methods and strategies. I had one mom who shared that when her son came home, he couldn't stop talking about it! He immediately called his grandmother who also donated to this project.
The enthusiasm that my students hold toward these activities encourages me to continue. They do take a large part of our day, with planning, creating/building, testing, and modifying, but they are well-worth it. My students gain so much and use so many skills during these STEM activities.”

Funded Feb 17, 2014Thank you for supporting my classroom. Your generosity brightened our room. It is much easier displaying student work. Every student works so hard, and now their work is securely and quickly displayed. The cork board allows me to safely display projects, and makes it easier to swap out completed projects.
In this time with lean budgets, I would not receive these materials without you. I also appreciate the donated service of installing the boards. My students were so excited. They love being able to hang up their work so easily. Once again, thank you!”

Funded Jan 1, 2014Thank you for your generosity! Our students had an amazing time at The Discovery Science Center. They experienced a wind tunnel, learned about healthy food choices in the grocery area, saw a shuttle, and learned about sorting and recycling.
We were so excited that the project was funded so quickly - in just five days! Many of our students love Science, and now had a new experience at a new and different science center.
With school budgets as they are, students go on fewer field trips. Field trips are one of the best ways to learn. Because of you my students can explore new exhibits.
Thank you!”

Funded Jan 1, 2013Thank you for your generous support. My students were absolutely thrilled when they heard the Chromebooks were funded. When the boxes arrived and were delivered to our classroom the students' faces lit up with excitement! They could not wait to get there hands on them.
Once in my students' hands the possibilities were endless! I have a group of students who need more practice time on new concepts. The Chromebooks allow this group to alternate turns and practice the desired skills. My students were also able to be in research groups and use these devices to discover information and create a presentation using Slides.
None of this would have been possible without your support.”

Keeping Science Fun!
Funded Oct 15, 2012Thank you generous donors! My students' faces light up when we use these new Science materials. They are so excited to get their hands on these activities. Without your support, these activities would have never made it into our classroom.
I hope these photos convey their enthusiasm. My students enjoy the simple reading material teaching them the differences between the varying states of matter. The Can Do Matter Game helps them review states and changes in matter. They LOVE using the scale to compare masses of objects. The light activity box allows them to see how light can be reflected and manipulated. The BINGO game allows them to learn and review different energy sources.
Their love of learning through actively participating truly fills the room. Thank you so much for making this opportunity possible.”

Funded Mar 14, 2012Thank you for your support. My students were excited to receive the digital cameras to complete their community project. They were ready for the responsibility of each camera and to follow through with deadlines, so that all students would have a chance to use the camera before Open House.
Their assignment was to take 5-7 photos of something, someone, or some place that represents their community. After they took these photos, they needed to select which one to enlarge and write about. I was surprised by some of their choices and loved hearing how and why it is important to their community.
Without your support, this project would have never become a reality for my students. I look forward to using these cameras again next year.”

Keeping Art Alive
Funded Feb 1, 2012Thank you for your donation! Your support helped us keep art alive in our classroom. The art materials made the art projects more vivid and dynamic.
I teach using a project based approach, meaning my lessons are supported with a project to create a deeper understanding or connection to the content. I used the art project books to generate ideas for projects. Also, my students were able to learn about different artists. The supplies assisted in the projects being bright and of varying art mediums. Some projects included: cave drawings in Social Studies, illustrated fairy tales in Language Arts, multiple book reports, and masks for cultural traditions.
Without your support the projects, would have been plain. My students were always so excited to use the new art materials. They realized they were special.”

Friendship Museum
Funded Dec 8, 2011Thank you for your generous support! Your generosity allowed my students to create a friendship museum that illustrates our school's great diversity. My students used classroom books to learn about different cultures and experiences. They created artifacts that represent each culture. The books on writing techniques greatly influenced by students' abilities to clearly share the information that they learned. With the digital camera my students learned responsibility by using the classroom camera at home and taking photos to show their community.
With the drastic budget cuts that are facing schools, this project wouldn't have been possible without you.”

Funded Nov 29, 2011It is with sincere gratitude that I thank you for your support. My students learned so much through reading the biographies that your donations provided. Almost as soon as they got their hands on the books their eyes beamed with delight. Immediately they began sharing information - a chorus of "Did you know that...?" or "In (year) this happened...." It was truly inspiring to hear their enthusiasm.
Our school district is faced with budget cuts. Your support made this learning experience possible. They are currently working on projects to teach other classmates about their famous individual.
Thank you for brightening their days in school.”
