  • Supplies for Young Creators!

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

This made my entire morning! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. I cannot wait for my students to show their creativity with these supplies. We've been needing markers, scissors, colored pencils and my students are going to be absolutely thrilled to receive these. I and my students appreciate this so much!”

    With gratitude,

  • Help Me Build a Reflective, Diverse Library for My Students!

    Funded Dec 10, 2024

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your kind donation to my classroom library. My students have been asking "When are we getting new books?" and "Can you get more books?". Now, I'll be able to give them an answer and enjoy seeing them with new novels in their hands.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mora

  • Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader

    Funded Nov 5, 2021

My students and I appreciate all of the diverse books that were donated! We've used these books to discuss cultural months like Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and more. We've created book talk presentations, and have also used them to make connections and respond to relevant journaling prompts. My students use these books for independent reading, book talks, and shared reading with their classmates. Thank you, donors! All of my students are enjoying these texts.”

  • Snacks = More Focus and More Energy!

    Funded Dec 15, 2021

This has probably been one of my most beneficial projects I've done on DonorsChoose. When my students are hungry and cannot focus, they know that they can ask me for a snack and I can immediately tell a difference in their behavior and mood once they've eaten. My students were extremely thankful once they heard I had the resources to provide them with something when they're not feeling their best. My next step is to provide personal hygiene products in my classroom such as deodorant, feminine products etc. Thank you so much, donors!”

    With gratitude,

In order to be a better reader, you need to write. In order to be a better writer, you need to read. Reading and writing go hand in hand. When my 7th Grade students have relevant books to read that are diverse, inclusive, and are well written, they will take risks in their own writing and begin to emulate those writing styles which will help them become the best writers they can be. My students will benefit from the diverse books I added to my project by gaining perspectives they may have never had before reading, making personal connections, and increasing their knowledge of things that are going on or have happened in our world. With the books in this project, I want my students to be able to feel emotional, learn, think deeply, and discover the love and enjoyment reading has to offer.
