  • Numbers and Analysis

    Funded Jun 20, 2023

The calculator has become the 'bible' to students

these days. With your generous donation I have been able to make these available to my students. We do labs almost everyday and use the calculators too! The sticky large Post-It boards are used for instruction and also for student practice. Writing on these is easier with the colorful markers. Student groups love to present using these. The SEPs ( science and engineering practices aka skills for the 21st century) are the focus of teaching and learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

Words cannot express how thankful I am this project got funded to enhance learning different courses.

Students today and in years to come will get to use these models in labs too.

Hands on is the best way to learn = experience! Can’t wait to receive these and use them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Exploring Change in Our Environment

    Funded Jan 3, 2020

First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation! Unfortunately, the tools purchased have not been utilized due to the unexpected closure because of the Corona virus pandemic. Our school is closed physically for the rest of the academic year. However, I intend to use the probes in the Fall and following semesters to come.

The tools purchased give my students the opportunity to investigate and record data using state of the art technology and tools! The probes will be used not in my classroom but I will be shared with my co-teachers in the Science department as well.

    Once again, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

The probes I am requesting are similar tools used by scientists and engineers in our world today. Learning to how to use these probes first-hand gives our students the advantage of being better prepared for what lies ahead in their STEM career journey. Students will be presented with various case studies to problem-solve using the probes provided. They will propose a claim, gather evidence by collecting data and analyzing it, and based on the results determine whether or not their initial claim/solution is accepted or rejected. They will develop soft skills such as collaboration, critical-thinking, communication, and creativity through the process.
