Flexible seating grants students a voice and choice in their learning. Students who feel as though they have power and efficacy over their learning, are better motivated to achieve and meet their full potential. Additionally, students who feel as though the classroom is their space - a home away from home - are more comfortable and secure and thus able to better focus on their work. By giving students power over their own learning style and aspects of their learning environment, students are able to take charge of and responsibility for their own education. The products that I have selected will give my students additional seating options to capitalize on their learning. The stadium seating and lap desks will allow students to work on the floor comfortably and spread out, gaining a space of their own to better focus on reaching their learning goals. The bean bag chairs will provide alternative comfortable floor seating as well. Finally, the wobble stools will help my higher energy learners remain focused while getting some of their wiggles out. I am confident that these new seating options will boost engagement, achievement, and overall, student empowerment.
