Recently I have seen how Osmos can revolutionize station/center time for both math and reading/writing. Students love to play games and learn through play, but learn even more when they are using kinetic activity. Instead of students playing games that are directly on the screen, they can use hands on manipulatives and technology together at the same time. Often times it is hard for teachers to monitor what is going on behind the screen. Using the Osmos, I will be able to better monitor students using the manipulatives to learn and play games and will easily be able to redirect or fix issues since Osmos and iPads will need to be used at a table or desk in order to use the tiles that go with it. Students are engaged in what they are doing and see it as having fun playing a puzzle or game rather than learning. Students can work individually, in pairs, or in small groups. Working in pairs or small groups helps students to work cooperatively and learn developmentally appropriate social skills.
