  • Pug- erific Books!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank- you so much for the Pig the Pug books. My students love the hilarious characters and funny story lines. These books are perfect for language therapy because they are full of problems and solutions that allow us to ask questions and address comprehension IEP goals.

The books are also perfect because they are engaging, well illustrated and written. They include figurative language that is often an item addressed in my students' IEPs. They are able to listen, answer comprehension questions, and then retell with the colorful pictures! Thank you so much for helping them grow their language skills!”

  • Treats and Treasures

    Funded Sep 16, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to my students with speech and language difficulties. They love all of the treats, especially the bendy pencils and scented playdough! They are working extra hard to earn these prizes. We have put them in the store and in the prize box.

In addition to that, I was able to use these treats and treasures to make holiday gift bags for my over 50 speech students. So, not only did you help my students by giving them something to work toward, you helped make their holiday a little brighter!”

  • Paint by Stickers

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you so much for the paint by sticker books. My students love using these in speech and language therapy. They have been buying them in the speech store as well! They are perfect for calming the children, keeping them busy while their peers are working, and developing fine motor skills. These books are the perfect thing for them to work toward earning in the the speech store. Then, they are able to use them during their speech and language sessions as well! I love that I am also able to sneak in a few language questions and following direction goals while they are working on their pictures and they don't even know they are practicing their goals!”

  • Materials for Language Learners

    Funded Sep 17, 2024

Thank you so much for the gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers so that I am able to buy so many amazing premade materials for my speech students! Speech-Language Pathologists are very creative, and that helps someone like me who has been in the business 31 years keep up with the newest trends and and ideas in my field. Plus, using Teachers Pay Teachers helps support others in the field of education. It also saves my extremely valuable time by providing me with quality, premade materials that I am able to search and print on the spot.”

  • Pretending to Spend

    Funded Sep 16, 2024

Thank you so much for the items for my students to pretend to spend and to play store keeper during speech and language therapy. My students love pretend play and this is the best way for them to learn and to develop their language skills. Believe it or not, the favorite item so far is the set of cleaning items. They get so excited to pretend to sweep and mop of the speech therapy room. I have loved encouraging the use of new vocabulary with them when we use the store, cash register, and cafe' sets”

  • Our Speech Store

    Funded Sep 16, 2024

Thank you so much for all of the snacks for out speech store! My students with speech and language delays come to speech and work their hardest. They love being able to earn stickers and pretend money. They use this to buy treats like cookies, candy, and chips in the Speech Store. You would not believe how extra hard the children will work for such a small prize. They find these so motivating and will put forth extra effort to get to go to the store to buy items. All the while, this is teaching them beginning financial skills.”

  • New Language Learners

    Funded Sep 16, 2024

Thank you so much for funding my project to help new language learners. They are already diving into the box of pull- back cars and trucks. These are wonderful motivators for behavior, as well as to encourage language development. They absolutely love the new sensory wall I made using the textured zoo animal mats. These materials help us to address vocabulary such as names of new items, describing words, and adverbs. The other favorite item are the sensory shape and color toys. The children use these to regulate their sensory needs, but they also allow us to talk to them about how they feel and look, which increase language and vocabulary skills.”

Thank you so much for donating to my students with speech and language difficulties. They have been so excited to see all the new prizes in the surprise box. They love seeing all the colorful and fun new prizes! You would not believe how motivated the children are over something that seems so small to us. These little toys, stickers, and fidgets may not be a big deal to us, but they are huge for the kids! They will work extra hard in speech therapy to earn their stickers, which add up to getting in the prize box!!”

  • Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

    Funded May 22, 2024

Thank you so much for the snowman kits! I can't wait to use them with my students in the winter! I love reading books about building snowmen because they are perfect to teach the children about sequencing. With these hands- on kits that include individual clay packs, hats, sticks for arms, mini scars, and all the other adorable parts they need to make their snow people; my students will be able to reenact the step from the book the characters did to make a snowman. Then, I will have them retell the steps to practice their speech and language goals.”

  • Crafty Speech Kids!

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you for gifting my students these amazing craft kits! Crafts, such ones we can create with these arts and crafts kits, are perfect for teaching language skills!

I am able to develop lessons to address so many of their IEP goals. I can work on following directions and retelling the steps back. Lessons can focus on colors, shapes, vocabulary, and spatial terms. I can't wait to share these kits with the children! I use crafts to follow- up with literacy lessons, to add to our holiday celebrations, and sometimes just to make learning more fun!”

These books about children with speech and language disabilities will allow my students to know they aren't alone. Speech-Language Impaired students need to see others like themselves in print so they can feel represented! Many of my students struggle daily with stuttering and severe articulation disorders, like Apraxia, making it a struggle just to talk to a friend or teacher. Others are limited verbal or totally nonverbal. These children need to know there are others with the same problems and children without these concerns need to develop empathy for their disabled peers. Literacy opens many doors, one of them being to the road toward discussing struggles and differences. Typically developing and disabled children need to be aware of communication differences to promote tolerance and acceptance. These books will share speech-language struggles when I teach disability awareness in general education classes and when I teach self- awareness to the children who have disabilities themselves.
