We live in a small rural area of Central Pennsylvania. The majority of the students here are economically challenged but have an extreme wealth of knowledge they wish to obtain for themselves and future opportunities that await them. Our STEM initiative this year in our middle school has allowed our students to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in ways they haven't previously. They are given the freedom to pursue their STEM initiatives individually and in groups, coming up with projects they wish to explore. These students are bright, imaginative, curious, and fun. They will do almost anything in the name of exploration and science (with the exception of one student who refused, even in the name of science, to test the conductivity of a carrot by putting it into his mouth - he opted for the gummy worm instead). These students are well worth the investment you will make in this initiative, I guarantee you!
