Dazzle us with Acknowledgements-Social Emotional Learning!
Funded Apr 7, 2024Thank you for helping our students feel acknowledged for making good choices behaviorally and academically.
They loved being able to choose things they enjoyed to take home and share with their families , representing their efforts.
After a long year of mastering the rules and going above and beyond to show kindness and responsibility, they were so appreciative of being recognized.
I'm sure this experience with stay with them for some time to come. This sets the stage for them to have another amazing academic year as they grow and learn together.”

Munching Our Way Through Good Biographies!
Funded Nov 28, 2023It is with great appreciation that we thank you for the donations that allowed more than one class to have enough snack to tide them over until their lunch in the latter half of the afternoon.
In addition, the biographies furnished allowed students to explore and learn about the lives of several new important figures , and reading about them translated into improving their writing about the various topics they chose.
Munching and reading proved to be a successful venture, and we thank you so much for making it happen.”

Financial Literacy Makes Us Hungry to Learn More!
Funded Oct 11, 2023Since your generous funding, my students look forward to snack. It is an opportunity for them to socialize as a class, share responsibilities, and get creative.
Some make up stories that include gummy bear characters along with cheddar fish, while others build towers of crackers as they munch happily. For some, it is a longer day than for others, whether they travel long distances to get to and from school or attend afterschool programs. Snack is just what they need to provide the energy to get through the day. For most, the snacks are the perfect manipulatives to use to create math problems in addition and subtraction, and, most recently, to associate with money values. We will continue to use these to supplement our nutrition and math practice.”

Equity in Education
Funded Aug 11, 2022Your generosity enabled our students to have a color printer and resources to support our biography unit of study. Being able to depict historical figures and setting in true to life colors during their research made quite an impact on our young learners.
Students used these sources independently and in partnerships in more than one genre.
Students were intrigued to use these resources all year round. I know future generations will benefit as well. I could see these being utilized in various subject areas as well.
Thank you again for your generosity.”

Celebrate Learning in a Pandemic Year
Funded Jun 6, 2022After returning to an almost-normal post-pandemic year, students were eager to do hands-on activities and explore concepts in our enrichment unit on aviation and space. Through your generosity, we were able to test basic concepts of flight and use trial and error in experiments with forces such as thrust, lift, drag, gravity, and trajectories.
Thank you for allowing me to inspire more than one class of students through your generosity. Your sponsorship allows students to develop problem solving while utilizing team work skills to achieve a common goal.”

Changing the World through StEM and Visual Arts: Biographies
Funded Nov 20, 2022Through your generosity, our students were inspired to learn about key figures in history, the arts and the sciences. In turn, it motivated their research and writing skills and prompted discussion for an upcoming aviation and space unit.
It was wonderful to see students eagerly making connections between people they chose to write biographies about. Many noticed the struggles their research topics had to endure, whether gender bias, poverty, racism, or medical issues that may have set them back, and the fact that they never gave up and followed their dreams.
Thank you for making this possible .”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Walt Disney Company and 10 other donors.Dazzle Them With Writing!
Funded Mar 20, 2022My students eagerly engage in writing, either independently or in partnerships, so it was natural for them to ask for blank hardcover books that they could design any way they wanted. It let them exercise all they have learned about writing this year, from structure to point of view to fairy tale format to use of illustrations and dialogue.
Having an outlet for creativity when they were done with their work, as well as an opportunity to collaborate with friends empowered them in their work ethic and also gave them a voice in their daily routine. Sharing feedback and reading each others' books made them more part of a reading and writing community.”

Give Us Wings!
Funded Jan 26, 2022Because of your generous donation, my students have been able to explore the principles of flight first-hand. Using books and materials in groups, they have been able to test which attributes and factors come into play when launching a glider or rocket . Their sheer excitement over using big ideas and activities made each aviation lesson a chance to strive harder and grow their already large knowledge of Stem ideas and engineering.
When students' attempts at flight failed, they learned to re-evaluate and redesign their aircraft based on new knowledge. They are growing into greater thinkers and scientists!
Thank you for making it happen.”

Moving Forward in Math: Post-Pandemic Learning
Funded Apr 23, 2021As students returned to in-person learning , much of the social component of school had to be re-learned. As they focused on basic mathematical concepts, use of the games and manipulatives provided by this grant offered them hands-on practice to cement the skills they needed-it also gave them opportunities to interact with peers socially as they navigated through the math centers together.
Your generous donation has allowed our students to bridge the gap as they entered the classroom for post-pandemic instruction and for that we are thankful. The sky's the limit!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Oak Foundation and 4 other donors. Our World: Help Us Read and Write About Nonfiction Topics
Funded Nov 27, 2021Your generous donation has allowed not only my class, but all the classes on the grade, to explore informational texts on high interest topics. Motivating them to read has also inspired them to become stronger writers, with the purpose of teaching the reader.
When students see the amount of information available to them, they are more likely to want to read. This project has encouraged reluctant readers and has boosted the skills of advanced readers.
They are now preparing to present all they have learned as experts on their topics, thanks to you.”
