  • Flexible Seating for Student Engagement

    Thank you so much for supporting my project! As students returned to in person learning this year, they were pleased and excited to find a "sitting area" for independent work and collaboration.

    Whether students are participating in group work or projects, or peer editing college essays, these chairs have helped contribute to a more relaxed classroom atmosphere. After such a difficult year learning remotely, students are happy to have a place that feels a little more like home.

    Upon seeing the sitting area for the first time, one of my students exclaimed that my classroom had a "positive vibe," and that helps him want to come to class everyday. WIthout your generosity, this would not have been possible.”

  • Diverse Books for Diverse Learners

    Funded May 3, 2021

    Thank you so much for donating to my project, "Diverse Books for Diverse Learners." Your donation has allowed me to give students a voice and choice in my classroom, as well as develop a love of reading.

    As we come to the end of the school year, I asked students to choose one book and submit reflections of what they read. Usually, some students struggle with assigned reading, but these books are of high interest, so students are now signing out books and reading on their own.

    The students are learning that there are books out there that represent their own cultures and experience, not just that of the dominant culture. This idea alone has been a pretty profound realization. Representation does matter, so thank you for providing my students with the opportunity to see themselves reflected in literature.”

  • Engaging Students Through Holocaust Literature

    Thank you so much for your donation! The students will be excited to have new books that not only interest them, but relate to their own lives. By reading about, writing, and discussing these books, students will be able to examine their own identity and choices. I am looking forward to spending my summer creating new lessons to go with these books!”
