New Teacher Necessities!
Funded Mar 30, 2023My students and I couldn't be MORE happy to announce that this table and stool set came in SOOOO handy!!! We have been using it for everything! In class, we use it as flexible seating and a small group station when Ms. Young has to pull a group. After school, we use it as a resource table to lay out our materials and supplies for various clubs we held Wednesday through Friday from 2:40 - 4:00. For example, when used for Scrapbooking Club, Ms. Young laid out ALL the supplies across the table and the size and shape allowed for easy access and shopping. This made everyone's life easier!
Again, thank you SO much!!!!”

Paper Paper Paper!
Funded Mar 30, 2023Thank you so much for all the help in the last 12 months. My students were SO happy and thrilled to hear that someone cares about them. I serve a Title I community, so something as common as loose leaf paper might seem like a frivolous thing to put on Donor's Choose, but they honestly really needed it.
We used that paper to take notes on our English Language Arts unit where we studied a novel called "King and the Dragonflies" by Kacen Callender. The kids were able to keep all their notes in an organized binder with this present from you!
So again, thank you!!”

Science Lab Supplies
Funded Dec 24, 2022We have been using these science tools in the last few months in each of our labs. It's been so cool and a great experience to have the kids work like real scientists! They've been SOO excited to use the Science Tool Kits that every time we take a trip upstairs to the lab, they are smiling from ear to ear. Check out what they look like in our latest lab!! We decided, in preparation for spring time and Mother's Day, that the kids would propagate plants as a fun project to complete. Once their scientific questions are created, tested in the lab, and data is collected, we will have a better understanding of how to propagate plants.”

Funded Dec 7, 2022I want to extend a very warm and sincere thank you from me and all of my Basketball ELT students! ELT is a time after school from 2:40-4:00 where all students engage in a club of their choice. This year, I decided to do a basketball ELT because I have so many boys in my homeroom that love to play, admire many basketball stars, and talk about basketball all the time! I wanted a way to connect with them and have some time to build relationships with them after school. Thus, the basketball ELT was created! We have received the shipment of materials and the kids are SO excited and grateful. Again, we thank you so much for your generosity!”

Funded Sep 29, 2022First, I would like to say that my students and I are completely and utterly grateful for all you have contributed to this project. The Scrapbooking Extended Learning Time club with Ms. Young was founded this year for the first time at MS 50 because of YOU! In the last few weeks, we have been meeting after school to plan, gather resources, and create our scrapbooks. So far, the kids have selected their scrapbook topics, which range from their favorite game's origin and creation story to their pets, and have started to post it note what will go on each scrapbook page. They are planning what pictures I need to print for them and what materials from our scrapbooking collection they will use. It's been a pleasure to help them through this process. And every time we work on it, I know it's because of the generosity of a kind hearted person like you ”

Funded Sep 16, 2022This school year has been off to a an amazing start. The students in both of my homerooms are giving their very best effort on each and every assignment and project because they're so motivated by the snacks.
For each major assignment that is collected and graded, I create a criteria for success. That is essentially a checklist of things that students must do to show they have successfully completed the task.
For example, a few weeks ago students were tasked with studying a specific scientific career and creating a team poster to be presented to the class. Each student spent 3 days researching all there is to know about these specific careers, what educational journey is necessary to become this profession, and examples of what people have achieved in this field. Learning to research, sifting through credible sources, and figuring out what information is most helpful to write down proved to be a difficult task. As students figured out how to do this (and gave each other tips and tricks!), I rewarded them with snacks. But that's just once instance, there has been so many!!!
Thank you so much for fueling these young minds. We really appreciate it.”
