Lots of Language in Mrs. Q's Class!

Funded Jan 14, 2022

Our students have loved the opportunity to explore and apply their reading and language skills with our new Lakeshore Learning Centers. These learning centers allow many of our non writers to practice in participate in activities that include composing words from letter sounds or word parts and sentences from words, among many other foundational reading skills. We are able to use these activities to supplement our core curriculum and allow for hands-on learning opportunities that expand skills from the curriculum to make learning more accessible in applied practice.

When we opened our activities, our students were very excited to see all of the little pieces, work mats, and even the visual instruction boards. Many times, our students receive hand-me-downs, leftover manipulatives, or activities with missing parts and sections due to limitations in available funding and resources for our area and classroom. It was such a nice change to have the students help me open brand new packages and undamaged materials! Some students even asked, "for me, for me?" and I was able to happily reply, "yes, these are just for you and our class!"

Thank you for allowing my students to feel special and included by providing them with brand new materials that are engaging and accessible!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Quiñones Stoner
