  • Save and See

    Funded Apr 29, 2020

The parents in my class were so excited to receive these flash drives. These drives are the only memory "book" their child will have to culminate their experiences this school year. First grade is such a pivotal learning experience for students in their academic growth.

This year was made even more challenging with the pandemic shutting school doors and students needing to expand their understanding of technology as they continued their studies from home. Your donation to supply the flash drives for each student ensures they can preserve this time in history and look back on it knowing distance only brought people closer together.

By providing a Flash Drive, for storing their complete academic year to "Save and See," my students will forever have a view of where they started and the growth they made toward a bright future despite stay at home conditions! Thank you for a gift that will last a lifetime and bring joy to such a traumatic experience!”

  • STEM Education With LEGO

    Funded Feb 15, 2020

Thank you so much for helping my first graders experience a STEM education with Lego! The Simple And Motorized Mechanisms Base Set is amazing, and my student teams are able to follow the directions step-by-step. The teams were filled with pride and excitement as they built their first car and crane from scratch. My students did not want to leave and go home because they were having so much fun!

Students are improving their competency in authentic, meaningful basic mechanics. By including Motorized Mechanics into our math and science program, students are beginning to see their studies interconnected and not as separate subjects. Thanks to your generosity the Legos are supporting my students as lifelong learners who will use their understanding to solve life problems. We are tremendously grateful for your generosity in donating to our project.”

  • Reading is FUNdamental

    Funded Feb 23, 2020

Thank you so much for your support with Reading Is FUNdamental. My children absolutely loved the new books! One of their favorite authors is Mo Willems and the new titles provide further author studies. We read many of the books as a group, with book buddies, and during flashlight reading. By far their favorite use of the new books was in our weekend backpacks. The students pick three books to take for the weekend and read to family members.

We have closed the school but I continue to read the books to my students from home.

I thank you for your support of public education by providing books through donations. It was needed and appreciated!”

  • Learning To Read - Reading To Learn

    Funded Mar 4, 2020

Wow!! Thank you so much for your support in Learning to Read-Reading to Learn teaching, where First Graders learn how to read about social skills. My children absolutely loved the new books!

It is with a heavy heart I write this from home as our school is closed. I want you to know we had many readings and conversations about social skills before the school closed. The book Kindness Starts With You was one of their favorites. We had one hour at the end of the day to prepare students to learn from home. The one book all students took with them was that book. Their assignment is to use an example from the book each day to apply at home with their families.

I thank you for your support of public education by providing books through donations. It was needed and appreciated!"”

  • Healthy Food for Fuel

    Funded Feb 16, 2020

Our snacks were delivered to our room early this week and the children were so excited to see what was inside. We had run out of snacks a week ago and they were so happy to again get a morning snack. They asked if we could have a snack party because they were already hungry.

Thank you for helping me provide my students with some new snacks and some of their favorites. Today the children were shining bright with huge smiles as they chose a healthy snack. These snacks give them energy and help my students to focus on classwork and not on an empty stomach!

Thank you so much for caring and making a huge difference!”

  • LEGOS for Story Telling!

    Funded Dec 24, 2019

Thank you so very much for your generous donations! My students were so excited to receive the storytelling Legos. They love recreating stories and spend time rehearsing them with each other. I observe them correcting misconceptions of vocabulary and sequence of a story.

Some of their stories are self generated and have a great message to teach as well. They really enjoy this form of storytelling and are more focused on details as we read. This project is not only improving their reading, listening and comprehension but also their communication.

I am very proud of them! Thank you for helping us in public education. We need you now more than ever.”

  • Ready, Set, Charge

    Funded Dec 20, 2019

Thank you for making it possible for my students to fully implement their iPads into our daily lessons with the Belkin Storage base. We absolutely love our new convenient storage. My students are responsible for keeping the iPads charged and they have access to them without my help. Your donation provides the opportunity for first graders to practice organizational skills. Good organizational skills are a trait they will use their whole lives.

Thank you again for making this project possible. We are forever grateful for your generosity!”

  • Color Your Work

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity. My little ones were so excited to get the boxes of supplies. They did not even know how all the materials would be used but they squealed with delight!

My students have loved "working" with white board colored markers. It is so wonderful to have enough supplies for my students to present their understanding as little teachers!

Today they completed their Christmas ornaments and used the laminating film to help them last longer. They were extremely happy to use the multicolored book rings to hang brag tags on their lanyards. We also use the rings to hold high frequency words children are practicing. We are currently working on a book that we will bind with the key chain rings.

The glue dots are part of our Maker Space and used by first graders to create personal projects! We have not used the canvases yet, but I have a Mother's Day project parents will appreciate set for March.

Thank you again for supporting public education!"”

  • Food For Fuel And Clorox For Cleanliness

    Funded Nov 1, 2019

Thank you, thank you, thank you! My students were SO excited to see all the snack choices! These snacks should last us a long time and help my students' power through our long mornings as we continue through the school year. If the right foods are offered at the right times, snacks can play an important role in managing kids' hunger and boosting nutrition. A well-timed snack can even out spikes in hunger and provide a much-needed energy boost between meals.

The Clorox wipes are proving to be successful in keeping my students in class. Keeping our desks clean not only teaches healthy habits but keeps the children free from illness. We have defiantly had less absences since focusing on keeping our room clean and fresh!

Thanks for helping my students have a successful school day, every day!"”

  • Can You Hear?

    Funded Sep 30, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity in funding this project for headphones! My students were so excited to see the new, clean and safe headphones, in cool red and blue colors. They commented about how much better they are then the ones we used to have!

The headphone cords are long enough to reach all learners but short enough to not get tangled or caught on chairs or feet. They also have fabric-covered cords, which are less likely to split or fray than the plastic coating we had on the older ones. The students commented that the crackle sounds are gone and they are able to focus on the lessons. The joy and excitement is evident by the looks on their faces.

We are very grateful for your kindness and generosity!"”
