Building Non-Fiction Proficiency
Funded Nov 17, 2022Having access to high-interest books has made out quiet reading and writing time so amazing! I wish I could upload a video of how lovely; peaceful and sweet, our after-lunch is. The kids come in and get cozy with their books and our class aromatherapist sprays the sent of the day, meanwhile Native Flute Instrumental play in the background.
The students are so engrossed and learning so much, and subsequently, their scores have gone up in all areas. They groan when it is time to put their books away, and I know we have made lifer long learners!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Bill Gates and 19 other donors.Give Us the Tools, to Do "The Work".
Funded Apr 29, 2021It has been truly amazing to see how passionate and active the students have become in their quest for more accurate, inclusive, history. They were blown away to discover many facts that are so different from the stories they have been told, and not analyze and think critically about all information that comes there way.
I know we have the future world changers in this class, and having access to these tools, will give them the solid platform to spring from.
Using Stamped also feels very ¨grown up¨, and they tote their books with pride, and take careful annotations in the margins. They are cherished, well referenced, books that we continue to learn from.”

Digital Natives Need to Speak Their Language
Funded Oct 17, 2019Where to begin? Once again I am overwhelmed by the generosity and support from the community. Having these tablets and writing tools INSTANTLY affected my classroom. From struggling readers who can now listen to their books as they read along, to the project there are working on and being able to film and edit it, to simply using the doodle boards to solve math. It is amazing!
I am looking forward to unleashing the full potential of what these devices can do, and hopefully adding more to the collection!
Thank you so much!”

We Want To Learn In Color
Funded Jul 18, 2018I cannot tell you what a difference these materials have made in our classroom! we get so many compliments on how colorful and warm our room is, and the kids are so much more engaged having fun materials to work with.
It is amazing to see how simply putting an assignment on a different colored paper can make all the difference. I have to believe our happy vibe and caring class community is inspired, in part, but these welcoming features.
Thank you so much for realizing the importance of beautiful environments for children, and supporting our class.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018It was such a wonderful surprise to wake up to see the project funded. Lockdown strips would give the students a wonderful sense of safety, and myself as well.
The materials we received for the project were so appreciated....because the lockdown strips ended up being unavailable, we were able to get supplies for an art club, and other classroom projects.
Any time we can get anything new for our classroom it is so appreciated. Bringing tools for learning, calming environmental features, and safety supplies means so much to the children and myself.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Calling All Future Engineers.
Funded Jan 26, 2018These resources have been so wonderfully engaging and meaningful for my students. They BEG to do Mazebots, and are figuring out how to not only work as a team but construct challenges for their bot. They also did a fantastic job with the bridges. Building them as opposed to just reading about them has been amazing. I heard them using words like "truss" and "suspention" and "weight bearing" just while working with their group. It is no doubt something that will always stick with them, and they will refer to the knowledge each time they see a Portland bridge.”

Funded Sep 14, 2017Thank you so much for helping fund this project. It has been amazing to see the interest the kids have taken in the cubes, and how focused they are when solving them. The students take such pride in having their own cube, and have them neatly displayed and cared for on their desks.
I have seen several of my students, when frustrated or upset, taking out their cube and working it instead of blowing up. Its super cool to see.
I even have a group of students eagerly youtubing videos on the Rubik's algorithm, and exploring different theories and possible solution.
Rubik's Cubes are here to stay!!”

Creating a Safe and Comfortable Environment
Funded Apr 11, 2017My students and I are so grateful for wonderful additions to our classroom. The students have been even more thankful for the stools than I could have imagined. They use them at their seat or when they need a break, it has helped alleviate some of the agitation and frustration that we normally see daily.
The pencil sharpener has made a huge difference as we were almost consistently out of sharpened pencils. The dry erase markers also were a huge help. The kids were so excited, it was like Christmas morning!
The colored book boxes have made a cheerful addition and much needed organizational support. And the bean bag chair and table has made a cozy, safe, warm place for the kids to relax when needing a break.
These little changes have done so much for the moral, feel, and use of our space. I cannot thank you enough I am working on getting the pictures uploaded so you can see what joy it has brought to my students.”

Funded Oct 16, 2014Thanks to your generous contributions, we were able to get our project funded!! On behalf of my students and myself, we thank you and are eager to begin using our new screen printing kit to take our lessons to the next level!!
Art is such an important and overlooked component of a students school experience. Currently, my students only receive art class one semester every two years! This project will allow us to incorporate complex art procedures and increase team building, collaboration, and creative thinking abilities.”

This classroom project was brought to life by an anonymous donor and 3 other donors. The Future Needs Science!!
Funded Sep 19, 2011I cannot thank you both enough for you generous donations to my classroom project. Having hands-on science learning experiences is something I feel so strongly about, but hardly ever get to do. We have little to no time for science and no materials other than a textbook. I often spend my own money on little materials but the owl pellet kits were something I never would have been able to afford.
The kids absolutely loved the project and got so much out of it. I wish you could have heard them "I found a scapula!, a tibia!" It was amazing to hear them use the proper terminology and actually become a scientist. They learned about food webs, life cycles, anatomy, and the scientific process all while having fun!! Hopefully we created a spark that may ignite a life long love of science and curiosity for things. I never could have done it without donors like you!
Thanks again!!”

Mrs. Jensen
