Supplies for Success!
Funded Jul 30, 2019My students let out the biggest sigh of relief when they learned that they did not need to purchase any supplies to get them through the school year. When families learned this at back to school night, they were all also extremely grateful. It's a burden that you helped lift off so many people.
When my bright-eyed new fourth graders entered the class and saw all of their supplies arranged on their desks they were beyond excited. The color coded notebooks and multi colored pencil boxes lightened the back to school gloom some of them experience at times. They were eager to share and explore all that they had in front of them!
We are currently working on creating interactive notebooks for all subject areas filled with tools necessary for review, or using the notebooks to jot thoughts during reading. The students use their whiteboard markers during math and love that time when they can easily share and erase their work. Your donation has made a huge impact on all of us!”

Funded Apr 21, 2018When students entered the classroom on the first day and saw all of the supplies available to them they went wild! They were excited to not receive the typical back to school list with supplies necessary to purchase on their own. They had their own pencil box full of goodies that were just for them. Thanks to you, they were provided with everything they needed to start the school year off right.
We have been able to work in our interactive notebooks and write, revise and edit with the colorful pens. In addition to that, I'm sure that any teacher will tell you what a huge difference it makes to have an endless supply of pencils. This school year we have departmentalized according to subjects, so the glue sticks, markers, and colored pencils have been used by over 75 students!
This school year would not have started off so smoothly without your gracious donations. Thanks a million!”

Keep Calm and Color On!
Funded Mar 3, 2018Thanks to your generosity, my students are now able to add color to their schoolwork. When we first received all of the supplies, all of the fifth graders were ecstatic. They no longer need to bring materials to science class- everything is now accessible for them to use when working in their interactive notebooks. They all look forward to whatever diagram we are creating to represent different scientific concepts, or to add color to observations the make of various science phenomena. Their work is really coming to life!
When the materials first arrived, the students I serve, which includes our school's student council members in grades 4-6, were thrilled at the idea that they could now make posters for school events at a fraction of the time. They take pride in making the school look festive and take great ownership of the work the publish for everyone to see.
With the school year approaching its end, we have begun working on various art projects, and this helps keep the students engaged and eager to continue coming to school until the last day. Without these donated supplies, none of this would be possible.”

Ms. Picazo

Funded Oct 20, 2017Having accessible technology makes a world of difference in our 21st century classrooms. As standards shift, so do expectations of our students. The children we are teaching are being raised in a world where technology is the norm, however, many still do not have the means to access the resources that will ultimately lead to their success. Our district supplies students with email addresses, and our school purchases programs for both enrichment and remedial help. There are so many programs we use that have student success in mind that require the use of technology. Additionally, we are implementing the use of Google Classroom as an interactive component to our instruction.
My students love having this technology at their fingertips! Prior to having the Chromebooks, students had to wait for me to print their work, wait for our computer lab slot, or wait for the shared school Chromebook cart to reach our classroom. Now, all they have to do is click and they have their finished product instantly (thanks to our new printer). Early finishers use them for challenging coding activities, English learners use them for listening literacy, and everyone gets to research various topics and print their published work!
Many students have been using the Chromebook to take practice tests and "progress monitor" district assessments. They have seen their scores increase after having the opportunity to practice, so they are persevering and goal setting. I cannot express how those 6 chrome books have not only impacted my instruction, but my students' lives and their digital literacy.”
