Visual Learners Enjoy Elmo

My students absolutely love the new technology addition in our classroom! When we first used it, they were amazed at what was going on! To see a live feed on the Smart Board of a worksheet being written on definitely got their attention! They were interested to learn just how the ELMO Document Camera worked. It had the exact effect I imagined in my head!

We are using this resource in all of our subject areas. Instead of walking around the classroom to show students how they should be completing work on a handout, we place it under the Document Camera and all are able to see at once. Explaining procedures for mathematical problems is a breeze with the Document Camera. They are able to see exactly what needs to be done, step by step, without missing a beat. No matter where a child is sitting in the classroom, they never get lost in a lesson.

This project has boosted my teaching as well as my co-teachers teaching by expanding our knowledge of how to incorporate technology. It has allowed us to give our students more visual examples, which they really need and benefit from. Additionally, the students are more engaged when they are able to understand what is being asked of them. The movement on the camera ensures that students are looking at the board instead of dazing out the window! The year has just begun and I feel that my students are already reaping the benefits from this amazing device!”
