Flexible seating will transform my classroom community! Flexible seating provides many benefits in a classroom environment. It gives students the ability to move, be comfortable, and collaborate while working. It also gives students choice and allows them to take ownership of their environment and their classroom community. I have witnessed this in the short time and with the few resources I have used so far. I began implementing flexible seating in my classroom this year using rugs and cushions collected from family and friends; however, seating options are limited and unappealing. Quality seating options would excite and reinvigorate our class! Additionally, a classroom carpet space where the whole class can meet and learn together would tremendously help our classroom community. Now, my students sit on the floor and have trouble keeping their own space. The classroom carpet would help students to discern their own space and make them much more comfortable while they learn! I have seen how choice in seating can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional, quality options will help us grow even more!
