  • Basic Materials Needed

    Funded Dec 30, 2023

Thank you so much for all of your generous donations. Throughout the school year, students engage in several different types of projects that connect art with literature. For example, they are using their new markers, crayons, scissors and colored pencils to draw the characters they created for a realistic fiction story they wrote. When they saw that we received these new materials, they were so excited to get started on using them for their projects. Over the next few months, children will continue to use these materials throughout the day to bring their classwork to life. Thank you again!”

During this unit, students read the same book together and discuss several different aspects of the book. They are enjoying the snacks we also got while meeting together to go over what is happening their stories.”

  • Classroom Basics Needed

    Funded Dec 13, 2022

My students are already using the highlighters and pens to read and annotate stories. They use the highlighters to find details from the text to support their opinions during our literary essay unit. They were super excited when they saw me open the package that they new pens and highlighter came in because I had been telling them that were were getting new materials for a few days. The next steps for these materials are, allowing students the freedom to use highlighters on the state exams to encourage them to locate the text evidence they need to answer short and extended response questions!”

  • Snacks, Snacks, Snacks!

    Funded Sep 23, 2022

We really appreciate your donations for snacks in the classroom. These snacks are really important for our students because sometimes they come to school on an empty stomach. We need food to boost our energy level and keep us focused on the assignments that need to be completed. Students were extremely excited to see the snacks that you helped them to receive. They are always appreciative of having something to munch on in between classes. We want to express our deepest thanks to all of your thoughtful and generous donations!”

  • Cozy Corner for Reading!

    Funded Apr 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students have already started using the chairs to read in a comfortable, quiet space. They are also using the chairs to meet in groups and discuss their books, projects and different class topics. The non-fiction books that we got have also been put to good use. They are excited to learn about different animals and how specific companies got started.

When students first saw the chairs they were extremely excited to start using them and they kept asking when they would get the chance to. The next steps for this project is to allow students to use the chairs to meet in reading groups and discuss an upcoming project they will be working on!”

  • Snacks to Succeed

    Funded Jan 27, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations! With these snacks, students will be able to take a break from classwork and enjoy some food that will help them to stay motivated. These snacks will help students sustain their energy levels as well as their attention. These snacks are important because food is turned into glucose in the body. Glucose gives children's body and brain the energy they need to run just like gas gives a car the fuel it needs to go. In between meals, glucose levels fall. This can negatively affect the child's mood, behavior and brain function. A snack at the right time between meals prevents major hunger pangs and gives your child an energy boost to keep him studying and playing hard at school. We really appreciate your donation to this project!”

  • Make Reading Fun and Exciting

    Funded Jan 6, 2022

Students are thrilled to have new and exciting books to read in the classroom. They are always asking me, "Do you have any new books?" and now I can answer with a "Yes!". With these books, I can teach different skills students need for fiction reading such as: Character traits, how a character changes and theme. In my classroom, students love to read. They are completely engaged in their books and often share with each other books they would recommend. The books in particular that students love the most are the graphic novels and the ones that have diverse characters in them. They love to feel represented in the books they read.”

Our classroom is lacking supplies that help spread germs. As a teacher, I want to see my students in school everyday ready to learn. However, there are many times when they are absent for several days in a row because they have the flu or a cold. These paper towels, hand soaps/sanitizers and tissues will help to create a healthy classroom environment. Class 401, is also in need of pencils, dry erase markers, crayons and a pencil sharpener because we have a very limited amount of these essential tools. These types of writing materials are crucial to an effective classroom. in addition, these materials are constantly being utilized which makes it harder for a teacher to keep up with the demand. Therefore, a small donation of these items will go a long way. Lastly, I have included plates, cups and utensils because often times we have celebrations for student achievements in and out of the classroom!
