We have always used Math manipulatives in the classroom to make learning interesting and enjoyable. Now that our students will start the school year from home it is extremely important to keep them engage and what a better way than to give them access to the same tools they've always used at school.
My goal is to intrigue, motivate and learn Math while having fun.
When students only have access to paper and pencil they quickly lose interest in the lesson. Hands-on activities keep them engage, curious and interested while acquiring the knowledge they need to succeed in school and in life. Students can't learn about money if they don't see, touch, and feel the coins. They need to see how they're alike and different, their size, and color, only then will they internalize what they're being taught.
