Criss-Cross Applesauce! Kindergarteners learn this phrase on the first day of their school experience. Students sit on the carpet to get to know each other, learn, and listen to stories. A carpet would help us to have a gathering place and a special place to make memories. My students are creative, artistic, and excited to learn. Every day my students come to school with an excitement and passion to learn new things. We sit together each day to share our ideas, encourage each other, and learn. My students use the group meeting area each morning to begin their day, share experience, and learn new things. Our budget crisis in New Mexico is a severe and seemingly endless disaster for public education. Money for basic supplies is dwindling, leaving the possibility of getting needed furniture out of the question. My students are very eager learners, who beg to be read to, work together, and learn each day.
