Wobble Your Way Through Learning
Funded Nov 4, 2022I had mentioned to my students that I was going to try to get a set of wobble stools for them to use at the small group instruction table. They responded by crossing their fingers and toes and telling me they hoped I won. :) I was so thrilled to tell them when I received the email that my project was funded. The day I got the call that the stools had arrived, a cheer went up in the room. Students couldn't wait for their chance to use the wobble stools in the classroom.
By funding wobble stools in my classroom, my students are even MORE engaged in small group instruction. While activities and games have excited them before for small groups, the opportunity to use the wobble stools while working on focused, ability specific lessons means the material is sticking even better in their brains. Also, the fact that each student in small group is able to have a wobble stool instead of rushing to be the first one to the table for the single wobble stool I had available before means their focus is more on what they are going to be learning with me than what seat they will sit in. It gives more time to my work with them than arguing over seating.
My students that struggle with focus are also more honed in on our small group lessons. They have the chance to move about in a way that isn't distracting to others or noisy. Because their bodies are moving, their brains are firing neurons to learn reading skills, vocabulary, phonics, and word studies.
My students and I thank you for helping out our classroom in this impactful way.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Oklahoma State Department of Education. No More Plastic Seating!
Funded Sep 7, 2022In the age of technology, getting students to pick up a book and read for a sustained amount of time is difficult. But with the addition of flexible seating that you helped sponsor in my classroom, not only are my students reading, they are asking to read any chance they get in the floor seats that I purchased for them with your generosity.
When the class first saw the new items, they had so many questions about what it was, did they get to use it, when did they get to use it, and so many more. We have used these floor seats almost every single day since we have had them and they are still excited at the chance to read around the room with them.
Thank you doesn't seem to be enough to express how much of an impact this project has had on my students. It has motivated them to read and motivated me to look for funding for more options of flexible seating for them to use. From all of us in room 120 to all of you who donated THANK YOU!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Moore
