My students are a hard working, sweet bunch of eighth graders at a middle school in the Northeast. I can say that in eighth grade many students are passive and just want to be told what to do. Participating in the learning process through active learning strategies is a challenge for many students who seem to have more digital experience than analog. I was inspired by stories of successful flipped classrooms, and thought that having my students create videos of concepts and connections to their own lives would help them realize that they are highly important in the process of learning. Even with a few web postings, I can see the participation increase from this group of quiet kids. This project is made for this population.
