  • Set to Soar in Centers!

    Funded Nov 9, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation that has helped to improve our classroom center time and function. We use the new materials daily in our center rotations. We do five centers a day - math, reading, computers, writing/spelling, and science/social studies. We have 5-6 students in each center and they rotate every 15-20 minutes. Having various options in each center helps my students be able to explore at their own pace.

My students were very excited to get their little hands on these new resources. Their excitement could not be contained when the boxes came to our classroom. There were lots of "oohs" and "wows!" as I showed them each of the new materials and games. One child shouted out, "That one looks amazing! I can't wait to try it!"

The biggest and most popular reaction came from the new science center. My students are able to use grade and level appropriate materials to learn and practice different science topics like plants, animals, and recently the very exciting topic of life cycles. The hands-on activities were easy to set up - my students, even the non-readers could build science skills step by step with these handy resources.

Thank you again for your generosity! You are helping to develop our future generations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. May

  • Making Centers Fun!

    Funded Oct 23, 2015

Thank you so much for your very generous donation to our classroom! My students are wild about centers and they were so excited when the big box arrived in our classroom. They started discussing what materials they were most excited to get their hands on. We had recently finished a 9 week unit on fairy tales and nursery rhymes so the first resource we used was the Storyteller Read-Along Library and the Nursery Rhyme Readers. In our Listening and Partner Reading centers, my students were able to develop their listening comprehension, fluency, and master the skills they need for independent reading. Also with 12 different titles, my class was able to reinforce their literacy skills & become more confident readers with a wide variety of resources.

To say my class was very enthusiastic with the arrival of these materials is an understatement! Daily, they look forward to center time where they can practice their reading, writing, and math skills. Some of them want to be the "teacher" and lead their classmates. I have a group of boys who are crazy about math. A few of them are pictured using the magnetic ten-frames and Building Math Skills Write & Wipe boards. Some of my girls are pictured using a vowel sorting garden. They were super excited about using these because spring had just started and we had just finished learning about long vowel sounds.

Next up for our class are units on frogs & toads, and then spiders. We'll be delving into the fiction and nonfiction comprehension kits you helped purchase to discuss and learn more about these topics using activities that encourage them to find text evidence, determine the main idea, identify key ideas & details, and more!

Thanks again from the bottoms of our hearts for your generosity and compassion in helping out, not only our class, but deserving classes around the country. We applaud you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. May

  • 2,4,6,8! ELA Games We'd Appreciate!

    Funded Oct 15, 2013

How can I thank you enough for your generous donation to my class project?!? My class, which is now up to 28 students, was very excited when I told them we had received some new centers for our classroom. They couldn't wait for me to explain how everything worked so they could get started. Center time has been very popular!

The materials you helped to fund have helped my students practice their sight words and become better readers & writers. My students love working with these games and without your generosity, they would not have been able to access such a variety of materials.

My students have been working with letters, creating and manipulating words, sequencing story events, working with their sight words and writing sentences and stories. The class is having a blast investigating their learning and it definitely shows in their work.

Their reading has improved greatly from the beginning of the year. I firmly believe that most of them will meet or exceed my end of the year goals for the district reading assessment and Common Core.

Again, on behalf of my class and myself, thanks so much for caring about the education of our youth!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. May

  • Super Students Need Games for Groups

    Funded Sep 23, 2010

I would first like to thank each of you sincerely for your generosity. My students were so excited when they saw the new games available during center time. They couldn't wait to get their hands on all of these resources. Since center time is one of their favorites times of the day, all of the resources you helped provide are getting quite a workout. My students love working with these games and without your generosity, they would not have had access to such a variety of materials.

They love to spell new and familiar words using many of the games. Therefore, their spelling and writing has definitely improved. Even my lower-performing students are excited with the possibilities of being able to work successfully with these materials your donations helped to provide. Again, on behalf of my class and myself, thanks so much for caring about the education of our youth!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. May
