Montessori Inspired Classroom
Funded Sep 8, 2019Thank you for helping me provide the "appropriate size" tables and chairs for my Transitional Kindergarten students. Often elementary schools have tables and chairs that are a one size fits all across all of the grades. These tables have a build in desk which presents a problem when you lower them. The smallest chairs that the school provides are still too big for this age group and their little legs dangle when they sit.
For years my wish has been to provide my students with the correct size of tables and chairs in order to maximize their learning. It is because of donors like you and DonorChoose.org that I am able to achieve this goal.”

Funded Aug 2, 2019I am grateful for your generous donations towards this laser printer. I am able to print the resources that are needed to enhance my math and language arts lessons. I am also able to create pattern cards that are needed in conjunction with hands on activities to reinforce themath skills taught in class. The students can also practice pre writing skills and letter formation by using color printed ABC lego cards that allowed them to visualize and produce each letter of the alphabet using the actual lego blocks. As well as the ability to understand the angles and curves of the letters by manipulating rubber bands on geoboards to produce the individual letter we are learning that week.”

Funded Jul 20, 2019Thank you for providing my students the opportunity to explore creatively through the new painting easel.
Painting is a pleasant and relaxing activity that takes them to another world for a short moment. It has allowed my students a chance to be distracted from missing their family as they begin a new adventure in our Transitional Classroom. Painting has helped my new students express emotion, especially at the beginning of the school year when there is so much anxiety.
The students love putting on the painting smock and using the chunky paint brushes that are the exact size for their little hands. This painting will last for many years and will have many hours of enjoyment!”

Funded Aug 13, 2019These materials are being used by my students to develop science, engineering and math skills. They use the Design & Build Water Blocks to make predictions about whether they will balance or fall when building cities and towns. The students are able to discover that it is easier to balance objects on larger, flatter sides than on smaller, pointier, or rounder sides. They love to use the different shapes and figure out whether they will balance or fall.
The fishing poles are the most popular across the board. They are able to fish for magnetic numbers and put them in numerical order. The whisks are use for cause and effect and the math and science board books are perfect to introduce math and science concepts across the curriculum.
Thank you for supporting these little learners and for helping me create and implement amazing hands on science and math experiments.”

Funded Jul 30, 2019This little library has and continues to create the love for reading. The canopy is loved by all the students and the science and math board books are perfect size for their little hands. The students use the library daily and rotate every 15 minutes so everyone gets a chance to visit our amazing canopy classroom library. Students are learning that letters make words and that words build sentences. They get excited when they find the high frequency words we are learning in the text. They challenge themselves to see how many "the's" they can find in a book. Learning is fun and excited through the love of books.”

Funded Jun 3, 2019Thank you very much for taking the time to make a difference in a young child's educational development. Most of all, thank you for helping me create a classroom with the resources needed for success.
The dollhouse was already set up in the center of the classroom on the first day of school. As the students walked into the classroom, you cannot help but notice the joy in their eyes as they spotted the dollhouse. The dollhouse is used by the students by rotating and they each get a chance to play with it every day. They are fully engaged in imaginative play.
Providing my students with Multi-Cultural Doll Family sets is important to encourage the celebration of diversity. This dollhouse will also be used in many other ways like sorting items and learning about the different rooms in a house. Their vocabulary will also be increased by learning the names of items that belong to each part of the house.”

Funded Nov 21, 2018Thank you so much for supporting my project! My students are enjoying the puppet theater. They take turns using their imagination and I have seen a tremendous amount of growth in most of my students. The puppet theater center promotes social and emotional development and my shy students come alive while using this center. Several of my students have become more assertive and speak louder as they've gained more confidence in who they are! Fridays have become a day that they look forward to because they get to put on a two minute show that they created while practicing with a partner! We are thankful that Donors Choose help us in obtaining such a wonderful educational tool!”

Phonemic Awareness through Water Play
Funded Nov 19, 2018Thank you again for supporting our project! My students have improved their phonemic awareness through water play! All of them have gained full recognition of their letters and sounds! This was a fun way for them to explore and practice their letter recognition and sounds using a tactile/sensory integration learning center. I will be using this in my classroom for years to come due to the benefits of learning through sensory integration! I have alternated different educational items while using the sand/water table and my students can't get enough of going to the center! Thanks for supporting my project and enhancing the learning environment in my classroom!”

Learning Through Creative Play and Sensory Integration
Funded Nov 18, 2018Our students were extremely excited when our new water/sand table arrived! My students were able to identify letter sound through water play while fishing for magnetic alphabet letters. Each student gets to play and learn at the same time. We alternate biweekly using water, sand and various items. My students are enjoying experimenting with the concept of sink and float! They also enjoy graphing the items used in their experiments of what sinks and what floats, using the water/sand table. My students are now able to make good predictions based on their recent experiences.”
