  • Books for Novel Studies

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our classroom! Because of your support, my students now have the opportunity to dive into three incredible novels, Sarah Plain and Tall, Stuart Little, and Matilda, as part of our small group novel study. These books provide not only rich, engaging stories but also important themes of resilience, identity, and the power of kindness and imagination. My students are already deeply invested in these stories, and your donation has made it possible for them to connect with these characters and themes in meaningful ways.

Your kindness has made a tangible impact on their learning experience. As they read, discuss, and explore these books together, they are developing critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills that will serve them for years to come. I am so grateful for your support in helping foster a love of reading and learning in my classroom. Thank you again for your generosity—it truly makes a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Maiolo

  • Even More Graphic Novels, Please!

    Funded Jun 27, 2024

Third graders LOVE graphic novels! They can't wait to get their hands on them! I am so happy to be able to offer these to my kids. When reading comics or graphic novels, children slow down and look at the images and text to fully ingest what's happening in the plot. I know these books will help them become stronger readers!

I am also super excited to introduce them to some new series - Max Meow, Owly, Investi-Gators, and many others. They all LOVE DogMan and Captain Underpants, but I want to show them that there are tons of other graphic novel choices. Thanks for helping me bring these titles to my classroom library!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Maiolo

  • More Graphic Novels, Please!

    Funded May 7, 2024

Oh my gosh - my students this year are absolutely DROOLING over these graphic novels! They can't wait to get their hands on them! I am so happy to be able to offer these to my kids. When reading comics or graphic novels, children slow down and look at the images and text to fully ingest what's happening in the plot. I know these books will help them become stronger readers!

I am especially happy to be able to add Graphic Novel versions of some favorite chapter book series to my classroom such as Magic Tree House and I Survived. Thanks for helping my build my classroom library and keeping it relevant for my students!”

  • Time for Learning

    Funded Feb 1, 2024

Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Time for Learning!" My students struggle with telling time on an analog clock but these resources are so helpful. I sent home a pack of clock playing cards with directions for 6 different card games with every student. They can now practice at home and have fun at the same time. The watches have been an amazing incentive for my students to complete the required work on learning to tell time. The students who have earned a watch so far are SO PROUD to wear their very own watch. These time teaching watches will continue to help and support them in knowing how to tell time. Thanks for supporting my students!”

  • Math Can Be Fun!

    Funded Sep 23, 2024

Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Math Can Be Fun!" My math intervention group has really been enjoying the games. Card games are a great way to sharpen math skills while having fun! Their favorites so far are the "JUMP" games (skip counting) and ONO 99 (mental math with addition and subtraction). I really appreciate being able to give my students this sort of practice with important number sense and math fluency! Thanks so much for supporting my classroom and for supporting DonorsChoose!”

  • Building a Solid (Reading) Foundation

    Funded Jan 8, 2024

Thanks again for donating to my project, "Building a Solid (Reading) Foundation." My students have really enjoyed using Foundations A-Z during our intervention block each day. I have been able to assign them lessons that correlate with our phonics focus for each week and they really like the games, books, videos, and activities provided. I love that it includes oral reading fluency activities and I can, literally, hear their reading improving! This has been a really nice addition to our school year! Thank you!”

  • Snacks and Seating

    Funded Oct 2, 2023

Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Snacks and Seating!"

My students are enjoying the snacks - it makes such a difference for everyone to have something to munch on while we work through our long morning. I have enough to last us a good long time and the kids love the goldfish crackers and fruit snacks the best!

The stools have been a nice addition to my small group table. Their small footprint makes them easy to move out of the way when we aren't using them and they are comfy to sit on.

    Thanks again for your help!”

  • Interesting Inventors

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Interesting Inventors!" These books are engaging, and give lots of great information about inventions and inventors. We will be working on this unit later this year and these books will be perfect to supplement our curriculum!

I am building a library of small group sets of books to use alongside our reading curriculum and these are a great step in the right direction! We will use these books in small groups to practice the reading skills we are working on in class. Thanks for your help!”

  • No More Ziplocs!

    Funded May 15, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations to my project, "No More Ziplocs!" Oh my gosh, my classroom is so much more organized now! Switching to these zip pouches instead of single use plastic bags has made everything neater, nicer looking, and more organized. I have used these pouches for so many different things - centers, math games, student headphones, rewards, etc.

Modeling environmentally conscious behavior for my students is a nice added bonus! Thanks for helping me do this! I appreciate your help!”

  • Happy Numbers = Happy Kids

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my project, "Happy Numbers = Happy Kids." I love this program, Happy Numbers, because it helps my students fill in gaps of missing knowledge in math with engaging visuals. We have another program available to us for math intervention and my students always choose Happy Numbers instead!

I love Happy Numbers because the individualized pacing means those who demonstrate mastery progress more quickly, and those who need more instruction receive it. As a result, students spend most of their time in productive struggle mode (also known as the Zone of Proximal Development), which leads to the greatest learning gains. And to ensure students never get stuck, targeted feedback helps them correct any mistake – students experience mistakes as opportunities for learning!

Thanks for helping me provide this resource for my students!”
