The Building Blocks of Life
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you again (special thanks to Ripple and Orkin!) for your generous donations to my project, "The Building Blocks of Life." Planting seeds and watching them grow and observing the life cycle of butterflies is a perfect way to end the school year! This week we are getting started with our Wisconsin Fast Plants (plants specially geared towards classroom use because they germinate and grow quickly) and Painted Lady caterpillars. My students are VERY excited about both of these things! We can't wait to watch them grow! (Bonus: the kit included enough supplies for me to do this for the next two years with my students AND tons of additional curriculum supplies! Wow!) Thank you so much for bringing this experience to my classroom!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you, again, for your generous donations to my project, "Amazing Authors." I am so excited to be able to highlight favorite children's authors for my students. I want them to find authors and illustrators that they love so they can be more excited about reading!
They were very excited about the new books and enjoyed browsing the them this morning. I know they will continue to read and enjoy these books for the remainder of the year, and my future students will benefit as well. Thank you so much!”

Funded Mar 12, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations to my project, "Which One Doesn't Belong?" We just started Geometry today and the books arrived just in time! I introduced some key vocabulary (parallel, perpendicular, closed shape, open shape, etc) and passed out the books. The discussions were AWESOME - it was an amazing way to get them using the vocabulary and really looking at the shapes in depth. I look forward to using this book throughout our geometry unit to continue these amazing discussions! Thank you so much!”

Celebrating HERStory for IWD and Women's History Month
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you, again, for your generous donations to my project "Celebrating HERStory for IWD and Women's History Month." I am so excited about adding these new biographies to my classroom library! I had to rearrange and expand the biography section of my classroom library to make room for all the new books! I have created book tubs about Presidents, famous Sports players, inspirational women, and African Americans. I'd like to further divide them up into sections for scientists, inventors, etc if possible. (My next project, "Keeping Books Within Reach (Part II)," is for a book cart to store these books in a better way - I'm running out of room!)
Thanks to your support, my students have expressed a new interest in the biography section of our classroom library now that things are sorted differently - they LOVE to read biographies! Thank you so much for helping me introduce all of these amazing, inspirational women into their book boxes!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Zoom in for a Close Up!" My students were so excited when the boxes of science materials arrived! We set up the handheld microscopes quickly - they are PERFECT for my third graders! We looked at some plant and animal slides and my students were amazed! These handheld microscopes are also nice because they can work without slides outside in nature. We look forward to trying that soon!
We are also excited about the specimen sets and plant lab materials.
We are completing state testing this week and we are looking forward to some "fun" hands-on activities for the remainder of the year. Thanks for helping provide these fun activities for my students!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Snacks and Sanitizer." The sanitizing wipes were definitely needed - this year's cold and flu season has hit my class hard! We were running out of cleaning supplies!
The new snacks arrived just in time for state testing. We were running low and it is so important to be able to offer my students a variety of snacks after a long morning of testing. They were excited to see the new selection!
Thank you for helping me provide these healthy supplies and snacks for my students!”

Funded Feb 27, 2018Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Restock Our Supplies!" and a special thanks to W. Kamau Bell's Giving Page for helping get this project funded!
The pencils, crayons, glue sticks, highlighters, colored pencils, dry erase markers, and scissors we received are much needed at this point in the school year. I cleaned out the supply caddies on every table and they were a complete mess! Broken crayons, dried out glue sticks, stubby pencils... Everything needed a refresh! The new supplies will help us get through the last quarter of school smoothly - without searching for supplies and materials and wasting learning time. Thank you for your support!”

Funded Feb 12, 2018Thank you, again, for your generous donations to my project " History, HERStory, Make it Their Story! (Part II)." I am so excited about adding these books to my classroom library! I had to rearrange my non-fiction and biography sections to make room for all the new books! I have created book tubs about Presidents, famous Sports players, inspirational women, and African Americans. My students have expressed a new interest in the biography section of our classroom library now that things are sorted differently - they LOVE to read biographies! Thank you so much for helping me bring all of these amazing, inspirational leaders and people into their book boxes!”

Funded Jan 3, 2018I love how so many different people helped bring this simple little project to life - new friends, old friends, co-workers, and strangers! Thank you!
I have a lot of books in my classroom library (a good problem to have) and it is sometimes challenging to store them in a way that makes them accessible and engaging for my students. This book rack is helping me display books by favorite children's authors such as Peter Reynolds and Patricia Polacco. They look awesome in the new bins and rack and I know my students are going to love being able to access these previously hidden gems.
Thanks so much for your help and generosity!”

Color Me Organized
Funded Oct 26, 2017Thank you again for your generous donations to my project, "Color Me Organized." This is a project that I write every school year to help provide my class with color coded supplies that we use throughout the year. The folders help us organize our classwork and tests by subject and the other supplies are used to keep notebooks and other work organized, neat, and consistent. Organization is an important skill that my students will use for the rest of their lives. I appreciate your help in supporting my students as they learn this skill. Special thanks to Boosterthon Fun Run for thinking of us after Hurricane Irma and to local donors who help support my classroom and other schools in the area. Simple supplies like these make a big difference! Thank you so much!”
