Instead of a paper-pencil worksheet each morning, students will be able to begin each school day by exploring these materials as well as interacting with their peers. My students need easy to learn, fun, hands-on activities to promote critical thinking and problem solving. My students eat breakfast in the classroom. After they finish breakfast, they have 15-20 minutes to "play" with a tub. Morning tubs help create a routine and independent behaviors for the students. Not only will the help create a smooth transition in the morning from arriving, unpacking, and breakfast into our core learning, but they also offer an opportunity for the students to be creative and have movement without boundaries. There is a great amount of research that supports play-based learning for our primary students. Playing is not only fun, but it is an important part of a child's development and learning.
