iPad, iPod, iPhone, iTouch, iTunes, I Don't Know!
Funded Aug 4, 2013I cannot thank you all enough for the donations that made it possible to introduce a tablet into my classroom. My students were so thrilled to receive the iPad and are all eager to use it.
We rotate stations daily during our literacy block, so every student is able to "play" educational games specific to his/her instructional level. Students can also earn time on the iPad as they successfully complete other assignments . I also find it helpful for those that need some additional review time in order to achieve mastery.
You truly can teach an old dog new tricks! This has transformed my teaching!”

Handwriting!
Funded Jul 5, 2013Thank you for the donations you made in order for my Handwriting project to be funded. I can't begin to explain how much easier it is for my students to write legibly now that they have properly spaced paper. I've been explicitly modeling letter formation on chart paper and they practice on their own white boards. The lined paper is the perfect size for their developmental level and they are more easily connecting the printed letter with the sounds they hear. It's win/win all around.
Thank you for giving my students a chance to shine!”

Hands On Math & Science!
Funded Mar 12, 2013Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't say it enough because this project had such a positive, immediate impact on my students. They LOVE these games. They don't even see these activities as learning! They are motivated to get their work completed just so they can have extra time with these file folder games. My students are "playing" with games that teach them about graphing, skip counting, addition/subtraction problems, animal characteristics, seasons, and force and motion. These are all topics we cover in 1st grade, so these independent file folder games reinforce skills they've learned. Thank you so much for helping motivate my students to love learning!”

Buddy Reading with Big Books!
Funded Apr 2, 2013Thank you so much for donating to my classroom! My students are always awestruck when boxes arrive just knowing that someone has cared enough to purchase educational materials for them. Since these are big books, the boxes were really big and they were just like kids in a candy shop as we opened them. I've used these books for small groups and for independent stations and the students LOVE them. They are able to practice reading fluently and identify sight words and their word study words. It's fun to see them spread out on the carpet and work cooperatively to read these big books. Thanks again for your generosity!”

Look! I Can Read All By Myself!
Funded Nov 17, 2012Thank you so much for supporting my classroom! The leveled book sets allow students to practice their fluency as they build their confidence as readers and their love of reading!
My students read and reread these books daily. They are able to read them independently, so they are becoming confident in their reading skills. We use the leveled books to work on phrasing as well as branching out to comprehending text now that struggling with decoding isn't an issue!
The support you gave is enabling my current class, as well as all future classes, to build a lifelong love of reading and learning. Thank you for lifting up a new generation of readers!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. L. Williams
