I’m requesting a wireless PA system and lapel microphone for my students. Throughout the year, we give class presentations, and it’s often embarrassing for the quietest students. They’re fully aware that their voices are too quiet to be heard, which makes them even more nervous and quiet. Additionally, holding an actual microphone can be awkward and uncomfortable, plus students don’t get the opportunity to practice body language and hand gestures. It’s imperative for me to give each student an opportunity to shine and be heard. Speaking clearly and concisely is a necessary skill that employers seek out. When my students use this microphone, their presentations are more “official” and they have the opportunity to practice this life skill with purpose. My quieter students can speak at their normal volume without feeling compelled to yell.
