Flexible Learning Spaces
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness in support of these young scientists! My hope is that they can operate in a classroom that supports their learning needs and abilities without worrying about how their body exists in that space. Many do not realize how much of a barrier for learning can exist when a student cannot be comfortable staying still in a seat. It fills my heart with appreciation and joy to know that I belong to and am supported by a community that is helping me take steps to remove barriers for our students so we can make learning happen in the classroom.”

This classroom project was brought to life by an Anonymous Classroom Supporter and 4 other donors.Learning Through Listening
Funded Jan 18, 2019Your generosity has provided our students with the opportunity to have learning truly be a multifaceted experience. We have spent a lot of time using our headphones to watch videos, have text read aloud and play simulations among the multiple abilities and needs of our students. They have also been used as a tool to implement silent work time with "Starbucks Mode" which is where students pretend to be working quietly in a coffee shop. Our students were extremely touched by your kindness and have gone to great lengths to handle our headphones with the utmost care. It is so wonderful to have people in our community supporting us! Your gift to us will be one we remember for a lifetime.”

Starfish, Frogs and Owl Pellets, Oh My!
Funded Aug 30, 2017We are so thankful for your kindness! Our science students were so excited to dissect starfish and frogs in our class and thanks to you, it happened! The excitement on their faces when we announced that they would be dissecting at the end of the Organisms Unit was infectious and as time got closer, the excitement became nervousness because of the magnitude of the experience. When the big days arrived, the nervous went away and they were thrilled to be part of something so engaging.
After we finished exploring invertebrates, we dissected starfish. It was amazing to see students who usually shied away from participating dive right in and be leaders in their dissection groups. All of them did their best to follow instructions, stay safe and complete the experience. Following the vertebrates lesson, we dissected frogs. The groups were responsible for identifying the organs so they were very active in teaching each other the parts of the frogs. So many students have told me that those days were "the best days of science they every had!"
It is amazing that there are so many people willing to see the value in helping classrooms get what they need. You have given 220 kids the opportunity to learn new skills, make connections to the natural world and get lab experience. They will never forget it and neither will Mrs. S and me.”

Headphones to Enhance Learning
Funded Feb 18, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity! When the headphones arrived, my students were so very excited to get to use them. They are easy to store and work well with out chrome books. The kids have used the headphones in so many ways, from listening to podcasts on topics related to what we are learning in science to watching videos selected for them based on their needs and interests to help them connect with the content. It is wonderful to see something as simple as a class set of headphones impact a classroom so much! Thank you again, I am so grateful for the support and kindness you have shown my students and me!”

Arts Integrated Genetics
Funded Sep 17, 2016Thank you so much for you kind donation! It really helped us round out the experience of our Project Based Learning lab. The supplies you provided allowed us to visually represent our genetically modified pets in a fun and engaging way. Several of my students had never painted anything before so they got to experience something new and exciting along with learning some very difficult content. With your help, we were able to try something new and arts related in science class. We cannot thank you enough!”
