  • 3D Printing Our Way to Innovation

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

We had the opportunity to open up the 3D printer and start using it this morning. Our students were so excited and inspired, voices clamoring over each other with ideas of what they might build. What a great feeling to be in a room with such inspired middle school students.

This excitement comes because of YOUR support. Thank you for contributing to a project that is igniting a curious spark in our students. We are so grateful and are inspired, as well. The students' energy is contagious, and we are energized and ready to continue with this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Knutson

  • The Not So Lost Art of Cursive

    Funded Nov 6, 2024

Yes! This project has taken a while to get fully funded - a sort of "clean up" of the last remaining items we needed to get our class really rolling for the school year. I am relieved and excited to have this project funded. Students have been asking about the cursive materials, and I am stoked about getting them in the hands of students and looking forward to seeing their handwriting progress. I appreciate your support and am very grateful that I am part of a community that supports my school and my students.”

  • Invention and Innovation in ELA

    Funded Sep 30, 2024

Yes! We are so very excited about the materials for this project and are working with additional community partners to build even more capacity with this project. Connecting reading, writing, invention, and financial literacy will have such an impact on our students and the broader community. With these materials on hand, we can continue building this project. With the addition of innovation and engineering to ELA, we hope to build a lasting legacy at our school, with a program that can continue across many cohorts of students. Thank you for your support!”

  • New Year, Newly Organized Space

    Funded Sep 23, 2024

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for helping me to start the year off so well. I really do appreciate the support and the good thoughts and wishes. Having the supplies we need at the start of the year is so crucial to help make a welcoming, inclusive classroom, and having these items lined up and ready to go takes a lot of the worry out of teaching. I love setting up a space where students WANT to be, and these supplies have helped to make that happen. Your generous support shows that you also care about students feeling like they belong at school! THANK YOU!”

  • Comfortable Community Garden Space

    Funded May 8, 2024

We are so excited to fully set-up our garden space with the items you helped to fund! The garden will be a welcoming, inclusive space for students across multiple grade levels and content areas, and we couldn't be more excited to see the use of our garden expand.

Students and staff alike appreciate the garden space, and we find it such a special way to build community, develop knowledge, and get students outside! The garden continues to develop over time, and we are thrilled to be entering our third year in the space.

Thank you, as always, for your support!”

  • Supplying Art in Middle School

    Funded Mar 28, 2024

Thank you for your support of our arts based curriculum. Thanks to your support, I was able to integrate this supply-intensive project with end of year 7th graders. They were used the supplies to create "pour art" canvases that demonstrated several traits relating to their names. This came after a study of the book I Am Malala, the film, He Named Me Malala, and the picture book, Your Name is a Song. Students enjoyed both the reflective activity and the creative process that went into this project.

I truly appreciate your ongoing support of our program - I love coming to work each day, working with these students and my amazing colleagues. Your support only strengthens my resolve to make this program a thriving success@”

  • Building Community and Identity Through Pour Art

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

My partner teacher and I are so excited about implementing this project in the coming weeks. Our students greatly appreciate the opportunity to reflect on their learning, their identity, and their mastery of standards, in unique and artful ways.

Pour Art will allow for a very tactile, vibrant experience that offers students the chance to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts covered in I Am Malala. We are very hopeful about the impact of this project as well as the potential for students to show their comprehension outside of the traditional essay format.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support!”

  • Building a Welcoming Garden Space on a Dual-Immersion Campus

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

Thank you so very much for your support of our school garden and the inclusive, welcoming space that we are building in our campus.

Our students describe the garden as their "favorite place on campus" and are actively involved in setting up the garden, planting, harvesting, and cooking with harvested produce. This campus engagement is so healthy for their social-emotional experience, as well as creating a direct connection to cross-curricular learning.

Thanks to you, our students will have an even better experience in the garden, gaining meaningful skills, working on problem solving, and spending time outside.

    Thank you so very much!”

  • Setting Up Art & Garden Success

    Funded May 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to my classroom and, by extension, the entire school. We have already begun to put many of the garden supplies to use. Students took on great leadership roles in assembling materials and setting up the items in the garden. They exhibited problem solving skills and really pulled together as teammates to contribute to the garden.

Having art supplies ready in our cabinets before the start of the year takes away a great of stress! We can very quickly implement Artful Learning without the worry of finding supplies.

Truly, I appreciate the support and feel excited about our new school year! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Knutson

My students live in a diverse California community. We already learn a lot from each other's cultures, but I would like us to be able to learn more from each other's work. My students attend a large, comprehensive, Project Based Learning-based middle school. My students are creative, energetic and eager to share with each other.
