  • Breaking News: 2nd Graders Need Time for Kids!

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donation. With your donation, all the second grade students at our school have been able to use the Time for Kids texts weekly. Each week, they are eager to read about current events that are going on around the world. This has allowed the students to be more aware of what is going on in the world.

The Time for Kids texts have also been incorporating into our reading block. I use it to teach the students about nonfiction text structures, comprehension skills such as main idea and key details or author's purpose, vocabulary, and good reading fluency. Your donation of Time for Kids have been a great asset to our classroom. Thank you again for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lee

This classroom project was brought to life by Montgomery Family Foundation and 4 other donors.
  • New School Year, New Supplies!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The materials received have been valuable resources in our classroom. The materials are used on a daily basis.

The pencil pouches, chart paper, folders, card stock paper, markers and colored pencils have been used in all the subject areas. I am able to make large posters for students to reference with the chart paper. The folders help keep the students' reading and writing work organized. The card stock has been used for various assignments. The pencil pouches provide organization of the students' materials. It is also small enough for students to put in their desks and keep their desktops clear for more workspace.

Again, thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. The materials that were purchased with your donation has helped so many students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lee

  • Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

    Funded Jul 7, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation of "Time for Kids" magazine. These have been a valuable reading resource for the 4th graders at our school. We recently started a unit of study on nonfiction text. We have been using the texts daily to look at nonfiction text structures: description, chronological, problem and solution, cause and effect, and compare and contrast. Students are getting better every day at identifying the different text structures because of the magazines.

The magazines are engaging and high interest because the news stories are current and relevant to the students. The students look forward to getting a new issue of the magazine every Monday morning. We appreciate your donation greatly! It will be a valuable learning resource for us the entire school year!”

  • A Rug for Remarkable Readers

    Funded Mar 3, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation. We love our new classroom rug! When the students first saw the rug for the first time they were excited to make use of it right away. The rug is now the centerpiece of our classroom. We have lessons, class or group meetings, read aloud, or just spend time independently reading on the rug. With the rug, students are more engaged in their reading. They no longer have to sit at their seats. They now have a more comfortable space to engage in reading books. Again, thank you so much for your generous donation. Your donation will impact the education of many students for many years to come! It is greatly appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lee

  • Research, Write, Present!

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation of Chromebooks, printer, and printer ink. Your donation to our class greatly appreciated. The students were love having a set of five Chromebooks in our class because they are able to use them at any time and in any subject area.

We are now able to use education websites like Google Classroom and DreamBox more frequently. The students are especially excited about the ability to print more with the donation of the printer. They cannot wait to create and present more projects with the Chromebooks and printer. The availability of this technology in our class will definitely make the students college and career ready! Again, thank you so much for your generous donation!!”

  • A Home for Our Books

    Funded Aug 30, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation of storage sacks for our class. The students were so happy to receive them and we used them immediately. We used to place our books in flimsy plastic bags or stack them on top of our desk, we now use the storage sacks to keep our books.

The storage sacks are used throughout the entire school day. The students store their reading books and their journals in the them. It has kept the students learning materials very organized.

Again, thank you so much for your donation. I plan on using them for many years to come with future classes!”

  • Sharpen Our Reading and Writing!

    Funded May 2, 2017

Thank you so much for your kind donation of materials for our Reading and Writing Workshop instructional blocks. All of the materials contribute to each of the students achieving their reading and writing goals.

We have been using all of the materials since the very first day of school. With the chart paper received, I have been able to create various charts for the students to refer back to while they are working independently. The students were excited to use the brand new folders that will organize and hold all their writing for the unit of focus. The pencils and pencil sharpener have been essential and get the most use of course!

We will continue to use all of the materials throughout the school year. We are looking forward to using them in group reading and writing projects and presentations. Thank you again for your generous donation to our classroom. You are making a big difference in helping us achieve our academic goals!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lee

  • Gearing Up For A New School Year!

    Funded May 29, 2016

Thank you so much for donating to our project "Gearing Up For a New School Year!" Since the first day of school we have been using all the materials. The large poster sized post-its have been used everyday to make charts for the students to reference back to in every subject area. Also, because it has a sticky back, it has been easy to just post on any wall in our classroom. The folders have been keeping the students' papers neat and organized. The new speakers are nice and loud. The large class set of markers and color pencils allow the students to add more detail and color to their projects. The yellow pads of lined paper has helped us distinguish our drafting papers in writing. We especially love the pre-sharpened pencils. It saves us time from sharpening a whole box of pencils when we need them. We plan on using all the materials the entire school year for all our upcoming assignments and projects. Again, thank you so much for your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lee

  • Building Community Through Circles

    Funded Feb 2, 2016

Thank you so much for your donation to our project "Building Community Through Circles." The students in my class were very excited the day it arrived and couldn't wait for me to roll out their new meeting space! Since we have received the rug for our classroom, we have been using it for more than just community circles.

During community circles, the class feels like they are having a more personable experience because we are much closer to each other allowing us to hear and see one another better. Students love their circle time and always asks for it on days we aren't able to get to it. The students also use the rug as a space to read or meet in small groups.

Again, thank you so much for your donation. The class and I greatly appreciate donors like you who give to our projects.”

  • Fitness and Fun for Fifth-Graders

    Funded Apr 27, 2015

Through your generous donation, the P.E. equipment received has made an impact on the students inside and outside of the classroom. With the equipment, I have been able to teach the students games and activities that foster cooperation, fair play, and good sportsmanship. In turn, the students have been using what they learned when they are playing at recess. As a result, there is more time spent playing rather than wasting on conflict resolution. There are hardly anymore recess conflicts that I need to take care of inside the classroom which gives the students more instructional learning time. Inside the classroom, there is a sense of comradeship, a boost in energy, and joy in learning. They are more motivated to do their work because they know they will be going outside once it's done to play with the new equipment. The students love it because it's different equipment from the standard kickball, basketball, handball, and volleyball the school provides. Lastly, the equipment received has made an impact on the students' fitness and enthusiasm to go out and try a new game they normally would not. It also has built confidence in students who are normally shy about playing any type of sport/ physical activity. Again, thank you so much for your donation, without your support none of this would be possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lee
