The little minds of today are totally driven by technology and all of its great wonders of creation. I envision a class of intrigued 3rd graders walking in quietly preparing for another day of learning and mastering math concepts. I picture me unveiling the new document camera and all I hear is, “ahhhhhhhh” and “ooooooooh!” I hear a student shout, “Now I can see!” or my favorite "Ohhhhhhhhh I get it now!"
The document camera is vital to making sure all 55 of my students learn math strategies effectively by being able to see them in context which is important for my visual learners. In addition, peer teaching or "homie time" is a special time for us as this allows students to spend time teaching their fellow scholars while using their own work samples and improving both their speech and presentation skills.
The building set will provide a hands-on experience in the beginning stages of designing and building by exploring the toys they love. This will also prepare them for their own building projects this year.
