• Coding & Robotics for Diverse Learners

  Our class of 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students is unique, creating a diverse learning environment of learners in my class with varying interests, strengths, abilities, and learning styles.

  Through your generosity I have been able to attend the Pathfinders Summer Institute in which I have learned to teach Python with engaging Robotics projects that truly motivate student mastery. I now use what I have learned to teach the CodeSpace Simulation Environment, where my students complete a sampling of challenging missions, beginner-level Python coding, and working with physical CodeBots.

• Colorful Design Thinking Process

  Your gift has provided my students with disabilities the opportunity to learn in ways that best fit their needs and to engage in a full range of STEAM activities from home.

  In our Special Education STEAM classroom my students are discovering and applying the Design Thinking Process to develop solutions to problems they deem important. As they develop their creativity, cooperative learning skills and problem solving skills, they also acquire a deep understanding and value of empathy, entrepreneurial mindset, and sustainable living.

  They are now using the markers to create more detailed and colorful designs and to put together vivid and striking posters/presentations, to share the results of the testing phase of the design process.”

• Cozy Classroom

  Students have returned to the classroom after being home for too long. Additionally, they are in one classroom for the entire school day. Thanks to your help we have been able to create a classroom environment that is welcoming, comfortable, and cozy.

  Because of your generosity we have explored a unit in our STEM class that has made us experts in Immersive Media like virtual reality, augmented reality and other smart technology. We have virtual reality headsets in school, however, students who are participating remotely did not have access to them.

• Digital Accessibility for All

  Your gift has given my students with disabilities the opportunity to learn in ways that best fits their needs and help them maintain safe physical distance from their peers. It was difficult for my students to share computers due to COVID19 and their varying accessibility needs; text size, speech-to-text, language, captions, text-to-speech, special keyboard/mouse, etc.

  My students are auditory and visual learners, which makes Chromebooks & headsets with microphones perfect instructional tools for academic lessons, communication, social skills, and positive behavior supports.

  Students use the Chromebooks to engage in:

  * Communication and participation in a variety of formats and platforms

  * Student-paced, specially designed lessons

  * Interactive Science simulations

  * Use of digital manipulatives

  * Student choice, project-based learning

  * Develop 21st Century and Digital Citizenship skills

  * Social/physical distancing in the classroom
