My students are third grade special needs students in a high poverty neighborhood. Many of my students are struggling readers who thrive on hands-on learning activities. They are hard workers and are eager to learn about and explore the world around them. According to Cathy Davidson, "roughly two thirds of today's grade-school students will end up doing work that hasn't been invented yet." It is necessary for our students to develop a creative-thinking mind in order to navigate the fast pace of our ever evolving world. Therefore, it is necessary to expose our students to as many STEM projects as possible to give them the opportunity to develop those creative thinking skills.
