Lights, Camera, Action - Kids Behind the Mic!
Funded Dec 20, 2024The opportunities this green screen equipment has provided my students has allowed them to gain confidence in speaking, writing, and presentation skills. Students are working on a science project about animal adaptations, and will be showcasing their hard work using the green screen to simulate a "National Geographic" presentation to their classmates. Students have been brainstorming other ideas and we are going to begin working on a living museum for social studies.
My students love to utilize technology to make learning more interactive and fun. I want to sincerely thank you for donating to make this dream a reality in our classroom. Some of my english language learners have really improved their speaking skills through this project. Kids that never really want to show their work are now eagerly searching for backgrounds and activities to present their work.
Thank you again for helping my students bring light to their projects and really shine!”

Engage Me and I Will Learn
Funded Dec 4, 2016I am so thankful for the items I received for my students. The cushion seats are a wonderful addition to our classroom. All the students love sitting on them and we lowered one of our student worktables so now they can sit on the cushions on the floor and work at their table. Last week we played the new game ALLOWANCE. It was so much fun for the students and a great review on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. We are planning to use the file folder games in our upcoming pre-algebra unit. The students ask me every day when we are going to get them down and start using them.
The looks on their faces when we opened the boxes was like Christmas morning. I had been talking to them for weeks about the new seating and games, and when the boxes were delivered by the custodian, the students begged to open them right then. So, we stopped our Math lesson and opened presents. It was so exciting.
My next step is to get the file folder games up and running at my Math stations. We do stations 2-3 times per week and the file folder games and activities are going to be a great addition to the centers. I would also like to get a few more of these file folder games for fractions and decimals to add to the centers. I am continuing to invest in flexible seating options, like the cushions, for my very active students. The cushions provided just enough movement for my high energy kids to wiggle without disrupting others. There are many other flexible seating options, such as Hobbie Stools that I would like to add to my classroom.
Again, thank you for your support of my classroom and my students. I can't tell you how much it means to them to think that a stranger is willing to provide us resources to help them learn. What a great inspiration for these 10 year-olds.”

Let's Read About Science
Funded Dec 22, 2011The sundials were quite a hit in my classroom. The kids really enjoyed putting them together and learning how to use them. We went outside several hours each day to view our shadows and it really had a huge impact on their learning about shadows and how the Earth's revolution is the cause of the movement if their shadow. It is always a joy to clear up their misunderstanding that the Sun is moving across the sky and our unit test confirmed that they now understand. Thank you so much for allowing us to purchase this necessary resource for my Science classroom. I will continue to use the sundials for many years to come!”

Funded Feb 11, 2011I am so thankful for your generous donation to my classroom. The kids have had a blast with the Science Tubs. We used them for tutoring right before TAKS and there was so much learning taking place I was amazed. Each of the tubs came with 13-16 experiments and we did them all.
We made moon craters, we rolled toy cars down different ramps and measured the distance they traveled, we learned about how earthquakes and tsunamis are formed, and that is just the beginning.
This resource will be used year after year in my classroom as a great tool to get the kids excited about Science. These kids I work with have very limited life experiences and just being able to model hands-on activities with them really helps them to learn about the world around them.
Again, thank you for helping my students. It is people like you that make the world a better place.”

Funded Feb 4, 2011What an amazing gift you have given my classroom. Kids love to explore the world around them and with our new digital microscope, we can all see amazing things on the projection screen in our classroom. You would not believe the things kids scavenge to look at up close. We have looked at dead bugs, rocks, plants, money, dead skin, and many other cool, and sometimes gross things.
The children in my classroom have limited resources and life experiences, so having the technology available and easily usable, these kids can explore the world around them. I can definitely say it is the most used piece of equipment in the science classroom!
I am very fortunate to have friends and family that care about my classroom, however, I am very thankful for people like you who take time to help kids; and that kindness make my heart fill! ”
