All students need the chance to learn with up-to-date technology. Most of my students have access to computers and tablets at home, most of them having their own tablets. At home, they're great for fun and games. When each classroom is only outfitted with two, maybe three (working) computers, a class of 18 has a difficult time to take full advantage of websites and apps that have been developed with an emergent reader in mind! Why not use the same technology that students are already well-versed in and give them a new purpose for using it? I hope to do just that - use tablets in my Kindergarten classroom to unlock a new world of possibility for practicing reading and writing skills in a fun, engaging, and relevant manner.
