  • Sharpened Pencils for All!

    Funded Mar 20, 2025

Thank you so much for funding this project for pencils and a new sharpener. It has been an exciting year full of learning and wonderful experiences thanks to the support of Donors Choose . We desperately needed pencils to help us get to the end of the year. With all the learning we do in reading, writing, and math, the kids need lots of pencils.

We are so excited to also receive a heavy duty sharpener for the children to use independently to keep their pencils sharpened. We used to have a sharpener for them to use but unfortunately it broke. Thank you so much for your continued support.

    Have a happy spring!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gold

  • Headphones for Amira Reading!

    Funded Oct 10, 2024

Thank you so much for helping to fund this project for a class set of headphones with microphones. The children have started a new curriculum this year and they work independently using the computers to work on different activities. Some students work on their comprehension while others work on their fluency. It is very helpful to have a class set of headphones so the children can concentrate on their task and not be distracted by those around them. We are trying to become a fully technological classroom and having these headphones help support the children in math as well.

Thank you so much for all your support.”

  • Have You Filled My Bucket This Year?

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you so much for donating towards this project. Our class worked so hard to Fill each others buckets and always show kindness and empathy towards others. We wanted to send them off with a special gift that really connects to all the social emotional learning we did this year. We can't thank you enough for all your generous donations towards getting the children what they need. This class was very special to us. And it feels bittersweet to say goodbye to them but we know they will succeed in 4th grade! Happy summer everyone.”

  • Read Aloud Book of All

    Funded May 8, 2024

This year for our last read aloud we read "Because of Winn Dixie". This book was so special because it had topics and themes the children can all relate to such as loneliness, sense of belonging, and friendship. We loved learning about the main character and how she made friends with different people all because of her dog! We were able to watch the movie after we finished reading this book. We were able to buy each child a copy of this book so they can have it forever and it is so special. Thank you for always supporting teachers and students !”

  • Virtual Field Trip

    Funded Feb 7, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this project for a virtual field trip! We were able to book the field trip for creative writing and storytelling: we had the field trip today!!! It was so engaging the kids had a blast. We created a story together and discussed the different elements of fiction. They children worked in small groups to come up with fictional characters and a fun setting. Then the writing teacher put it all together in real time and created the book with us!!! In a few days the children will each have a copy of the book they created. This trip was so meaningful and fun. Thank you so much.”

  • We Need Tissues!

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this project to get tissues for our classroom. We have had a wonderful school year but we also had a lot of allergies and sniffles and we flew through the tissues the families donated in September. We asked for a replenishment and we blew through those as well (literally and metaphorically). We have enough tissues to last us until the rest of the school year now. Thank you so much for always putting teachers and their students first and supporting all that we need for our children.”

  • Where Do All the Pencils Go?

    Funded Dec 10, 2023

Thank you so much for helping us to get the most important supply we need: pencils! It has been a great year and the children have worked so hard across all subject areas. We are very proud of them. This year we really needed pencils for the writing center in order for all the children to continue to be successful. They need pencils!

We got such huge boxes of pencils that the children could not believe their eyes. We will definitely have enough for the state tests and to get us through to the rest of the school year. Thank you so much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gold

  • Let’s Create Tessellations!

    Funded Oct 28, 2023

In the beginning of the year we went on a field trip to the MOMATH museum in New York City. One of the coolest things we learned about was tessellations and the students created their own patterns and learned so much about creating these. We wanted to give the children the opportunity to create these in school and wanted to buy these kits. They were very expensive at the museum gift shop so we decided to ask donors choose for some help. With the help of the donors we were able to obtain multiple kits of tessellations for the kids to get creative with. We use them in math stations and during FUN Friday. This is a great way for kids to work together and talk about math and patterns. It is great for SEL (social emotional Learning) because children are working with others who they normally wouldnt work with. They are having great conversations. Thank you again for all your support.”

I am currently a 2nd grade teacher, in a Title One, Public, Elementary school in Staten Island, NY. I work in a low income school, and resources are very scarce. Just because the budgets are bad, doesn't mean the kids should suffer one bit! My kids deserve everything and donorschose.org has never failed me yet! :)
