Getting to the Goal
Funded Feb 11, 2022The supplies you so generously donated to our first grade class have helped to provide vast opportunities for exploration. Many students continue to come unprepared to class and something as simple as scissors can hold them back from completing graded assignments. These sets of scissors have made it possible for all students to participate equally, without limitations.
Additionally, the white board erasers have also been quite handy in moving quickly through intervention lessons, small group instruction and class spelling games. Students greatly enjoy using their white boards, but without proper erasers, many of their boards were becoming stained or damaged. These erasers will help preserve valuable classroom materials that we use regularly.
The items that have been truly invaluable are the headphones. Despite including them on the supply list each school year, most students either do not bring any because they cannot afford the right ones, or bring earbuds that easily fall out and get tangled, because they're the ones they can afford to buy at the Dollar Tree. The donated headphones will provide a very necessary tool required to complete their iReady minutes in class each week.
We are all so very grateful for your generosity and kind gesture and want you to know that we appreciate you very much.”
With gratitude,

Learning Made Fun
Funded Oct 16, 2019In the past few weeks since receiving these games, my students have been able to engage in hands-on learning that they've very much enjoyed. These games have provided combined hours of fun for these children, and all while learning important decoding, blending and reading skills needed to advance successfully through Kindergarten.
I remember walking them into class the very morning the boxes arrived and listening to their oohs and ahs as they inquired about the contents. As I opened the boxes and removed each of the games and learning toys, they cheered and ask how soon they could start using them. "Today!" I said, and the crowd went wild.
In the coming days, weeks and months, students will advance through these games in order, as they increase in difficulty and transfer from one skill to another. These games keep their small, differentiated instruction groups engaged and excited about learning, which is motivating to them, and to me as well, as their teacher. Nothing brings me greater joy than to witness their little faces light up with happiness and wonder, and these games have definitely made that possible. They look forward to gathering in their groups, because these games are so much fun for them, and I'm happy because the games are reinforcing the skills I'm teaching them in class. It's a true win-win situation!
It is with the deepest gratitude that I thank you for your generous and selfless contribution. These children are in need of so much in their lives, and my heart is warmed knowing that they have all they could ever hope for in their classroom; their safe place for learning and fun.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Janie Garcia
