  • Future Engineers Coming Right Up!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

You gifted us with a variety of amazing kits that the students have enjoyed immensely. These kits allow the students to be creative scientists and engineers They experimented, failed, and attempted again. One specific kit allowed them to create pulley systems. They had to work together, analyze the problem, and together find a solution to make the pulley system work. One particular group really had a difficult time working together and wasn't making progress. As soon as they figured out that they were wasting time arguing, they found a way to work collaborate, discuss, and uses each member's talents to their advantage. They were the most successful team!!! These kits don't just teach my students about engineering, it teaches them how to collaborate and respect what each team member has to contribute.

When my students saw the kits, they were over the moon! They are the kind of students who absolutely love learning by doing. Students were told we would work on the kits as soon as certain activities were done and, believe me when I tell you, they worked efficiently and diligently so that they would be able to work on the kits.

The next step is to get more kits that will challenge my students. Robotics is something that interests them and I think that is a good direction to in. It is amazing to watch them grow in so many ways, not just academically. Thank you for your generosity, we truly appreciate it.”

  • Social Distancing Fun!

    Funded May 4, 2021

Coming back to school after 14 months of distance learning was quite an experience for all of us. We were all excited to return but quickly learned that it would not be exactly the same as before. The students were not permitted to play in a manner where they were allowed to share equipment. That meant no kickball, no handball, tetherball, no dodgeball.

When the students received the jump ropes that were individually packaged, they were super excited! They were able to play together while still following social distance protocols. They jumped, they raced, they sang, and they laughed. It was such a beautiful sight.

Thank you so very much for allowing the kids to feel a sense of normalcy in this new era. We are very grateful.”

  • A Projector Screen for Our Classroom, Please!

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

We are so grateful for your donation. The new projector screen has come in very useful in many ways. The old screen was very small and didn't allow me to show anything in a large enough scale for all students to see. We use the projector every day for all lessons and to show videos of the topic being taught. It has helped my students learn because all 38 students are able to see what is being projected.

The students are super excited that everything is projected at a much larger scale. The students who sit in the back of the classroom can actually see the material and we don't have to zoom in on one specific area. They are also very excited to show their own work on the screen.

There are students who learn better by doing so they definitely benefit from this screen as they get to play teacher and use the screen to teach the other students. It is very exciting for the whole class to use the screen. We are truly appreciative of your kind donation. Thank you for helping my students.”

  • iPads for iLearners!

    Funded Nov 8, 2016

My students and I can not thank you enough for the pads and the speaker. They have been so useful!. We do a thing called "Genius Hour" approximately once a week. During this time students work in groups and they are able to research any topic they want. They need to research, organize, and present the information. IT'S THEIR FAVORITE HOUR OF THE WEEK!! All week they ask "Can we do Genius Hour now?"

We just started an ecology project where the students find issues that our world is facing. They are researching ways to help and to bring awareness. Once again, the pads are coming in very handy for this particular project.

Most of my students come from low income homes and do not own this type of technology. They are so excited to use it as much as possible. Not only do we do research on it, but we also play educational games that help them with math, reading fluency, and reading comprehension.

    We are beyond thankful!!”

  • iPads for iLearners in Need

    Funded Oct 28, 2014

"WOW!! Chevron, you are awesome!! " That was my students' reaction! Having iPads in the classroom is a reward and a motivation! The student are so happy and excited to have such wonderful devices in the classroom. They feel very lucky to have someone care about their education and give useful, fun, and generous gifts!

The iPads are used as a center where they can practice reading comprehension, fluency, multiplication facts, and math practice. They have to finish their assignments correctly to be able to go to the iPad center. They are working so hard to get the opportunity to do so! This has helped in so many ways!

The students are working harder to complete their assignments so they can play with the iPads, they are practicing their reading and math skills while having fun, and all along they are just LEARNING! They are improving academically all the way around! Thank you so much for caring about my students and for giving us the opportunity to motivate them and make learning fun!!!”

  • One Computer Is Not Enough...HELP!

    Funded Sep 15, 2014

WOW! Thank you so much for your generosity! My students are so happy and excited to have these new laptops in the classroom. They are very grateful to you and feel so lucky to know that someone cared about their education and donated such wonderful and useful gifts.

My students are using these computers in a variety of ways. At this specific time, the students are doing research on ecosystems. Before the winter break, the student were learning about spiders and were doing research on that. They were also researching the different ways that cultures around the world celebrate the holidays. The were able to print their findings and create power point presentations!

Having these computers have most definitely increased the level of excitement that learning can bring. The students get so excited when they know they need to research something because they know they have the resources available to them. Thank you once again for helping my students love learning!”

  • Literature + Science = FUN!

    Funded Oct 11, 2013

We truly appreciate your kind and generous donation. It is not always easy to teach something that is both fun and educational without the proper resources. Having a class set of Charlotte's Web was great for our students. They were very excited to have their own individual copy to take home to read and share with their parents and family members.

We used this class set of Charlotte's Web to connect literature with science. We read and discussed the story every day. We also learned about different types of spiders. We compared and contrasted real spiders with Charlotte. We also compared fiction with non fiction and myths about spiders with facts.

This unit was amazing. The students were so excited to see that we could interconnect science and literature. They had fun which made them want to learn more. They asked to do more research and were anxious to read another chapter of Charlotte's Web everyday. This was a great experience for my students. THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gallegos-Martinez

I have an amazing third grade class who loves to learn! They are in a Dual Language class which means that they are biliterate and learn all subjects in both Spanish and English. They are a combination of native and nonnative English speakers. This means that although the majority of my students are Latino, I have some students who are Asian, Pilipino, African-American, and Caucasian. It is great to see how well these students perform in both languages.
