When I Use My Hands, I Understand!
Funded Dec 9, 2009We have been enjoying the new Math materials immensely. The children especially love the different boards they can use to sort, count, and create patterns. The foam shapes and cubes are excellent for teaching Geometry and for using as counters when we are working with numbers. We are using the materials every day in small groups and independently.
Providing hands-on experiences for teaching these vital early mathematical concepts is crucial to the learning of each child and impacts everything they learn in the future. I believe having different objects to manipulate makes the learning more inviting and, therefore, keeps the children interested longer. Thank you again for your donation to our classroom. We so appreciate your generous gift!”

You Can't Be "SmART" Without "ART"!
Funded Nov 24, 2009We are thoroughly enjoying using the wonderful Art materials you provided to our classroom! We have begun to paint Winter scenes with which to decorate our classroom. The children were so excited to receive the materials and they ask constantly if they can paint during free time. I think this is such a perfect way to allow them additional time for Art during class and a wonderful way for them to express their ideas. I am always delighted by the pictures they create-- each so unique and special just like the children themselves. They beam with pride as we find a special place to hang their creation or they decide to take it home to share.
Thank you again for your generosity and kindness. You have made a world of difference to all of us and we think of you each time we create something with your gift.”

Wonderful Words!
Funded Sep 29, 2009Thank you again for the wonderful journals, word and picture books, and writing tools. The children are so excited to have such beautiful things to use for writing! This also makes them greatly value their writing time and put forth their best effort on their work.
The journals will be used daily throughout the year as small group and independent activities. Currently, the children are really enjoying the early skills journals, which provide excellent independent practice on letters and sounds. Early phonemic awareness is the key to reading success!
Being a teacher is a very intrinsically rewarding job. I get to see the effects of my teaching as the children progress through my classroom, and then I am able to watch and see how they do in future years as well. Having wonderful donors, such as yourselves, contribute to my life's work makes everything I do so much more rewarding. I can think of no better concept than to be able to provide my students with high quality materials that positively impact their learning. You have taken the frustration out of budget cuts and made learning fun again! Thank you!”

Math Masters!
Funded Sep 30, 2009A million thank you's for your donation to our classroom! (With all these wonderful new materials we just might be able to count to one million soon!)
These Math centers have provided an exciting way to have the children work on skills while I work with a small group. They are so fun and engaging. The center you see in the photos is the one for Counting. The children have to count these adorable plastic ants and match them to the numbers on various foods on their "tablecloth"! They find it fun, which makes more learning happen.
Your wonderful grant for education has provided my classroom with and incredible amount of new materials, all of which are wonderfully engaging. Thank you for understanding the importance of early learning and for finding my project to be worthy of being part of your project.”

Make Us Count!
Funded Sep 28, 2009My students and I were so excited to receive our new Math materials! The children are enjoying exploring all the different games and puzzles. They don't even seem to notice they are working on improving their Math skills simultaneously! It brings me great joy to give them such fun ways to learn.
I think their favorite new activity is the Fishing for Numbers game. They get to use a real fishing pole to "catch" a number which then has to be matched to a number or to a series of dots on either side of the workmat. I love the duality of an activity like this.
These new Math activities give me more options of things the children can be working on while I work with a small group for Math instruction. They are engaged and learning, which makes me feel good.
Thank you again from all of us. We think you are awesome!”

Help Us "Chart" Our Course!
Funded Sep 16, 2009Your wonderful grant for education has made a world of difference in my classroom. These materials are utilized every day. The Letter of the Week pocket chart is a perfect way to display the letter we study each week and contains a poem and pictures for every letter. It's a perfect way to build phonemic awareness! The children are excited for Monday to see what letter will be next and what poem we'll be learning.
The pocket chart stand makes it so easy for me to move the charts around the room so that the children may use them more interactively. The Word Family Pocket Chart activity is a wonderful interactive resource for teaching the ever-vital skills of early reading. There is no experience like hands-on experience, in my professional opinion!
Many, many thanks to your wonderful company for valuing early education. You are changing lives right along with us!”

We Need A Kidney.....Table!
Funded Sep 16, 2009My students and I are really enjoying the small group table. It seems like something so simple, but it truly makes every minute of small group instruction more meaningful, especially because less time is lost helping the children find the right page or spot on their paper.
This table has become a special place to the children and they look forward to their turn with me at small group time. They are young, but they understand that this special table was given to us by nice people and they often comment on what a wonderful gift it is.
I have tried to use not only the table, but your generosity and kindness as well, to instill the idea in my students that giving of yourself is a wonderful thing. Thank you for the two-fold gift of generosity.”

Art Smart!
Funded Apr 21, 2009Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful Art Smart supplies. The kids LOVE using the materials and spend their free time choosing letter stencils to fill in with the markers and crayons you provided. The crayon caddies help us keep things organized and encourage the children to sort by color. It is such a joy to watch them build words or the names of their friends using these beautiful materials, and an even greater joy to know that my students for years to come will benefit from these gifts.
Making learning fun is the most effective way to instill a love of learning in young children. Thank you for helping me to do that in my Kindergarten classroom!”

Books, Books, Everywhere Books!
Funded Mar 29, 2009Thank you so much for your generous gifts to our classroom. We have begun using the materials and are thoroughly enjoying them. The children are excited about the Word Family House pocket chart and the write-and-wipe word family boards. But they LOVE the books the most!
Research has shown that the more students are exposed to books they can read at a young age, the better readers they will become. Your thoughtful gift has given my students an opportunity to have books on their level that they can take home for additional practice. They are eagerly looking forward to taking them home for extra reading. It fills my heart with joy to be able to give them books they are excited about reading and to watch them become better readers and stronger students.
Thank you a million times for donating to my project. YOU have made a difference!!!”

Spring Into Art!
Funded Feb 11, 2009Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful Spring art materials. The students are thoroughly enjoying using the materials to draw and paint beautiful Spring pictures. They were so excited to hear that someone we don't even know gave us such wonderful things to use each day. It truly makes every project that much more special.
Many of my students come from families who are struggling, especially in these tough times. These families are unable to help us fill the gaps where we lack materials and resources for the classroom. Your generosity and thoughtfulness has made my job easier and has made my students' educational experience a better one.
People like you inspire those around you to do more and to be more. Thank you so much for being a part of our wonderful classroom.”

Mrs. Fuller
