  • Emergency Seat Sack Situation

    Funded May 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your contribution to our project! Just like any classroom, but particularly in kindergarten, we have to organize everything! Materials need to be in a specific place and readily available for use. Seat sacks are the perfect solution!

Our seat sacks arrived the second week of the school year. My students had been putting everything in their cubbies. Items were getting lost, students were taking too much time going back and forth from their seats to their cubbies.

Once the seat sacks arrived the flow and transitions in my classroom changed. My class had everything stored inside. They can now turn around and quickly take out any workbook, journal, dry erase board, or clipboard with ease. It was a huge relief! We are focusing on learning, not scrambling for materials. During an observation my principal commented on how well my class was doing with transitions and procedures. I happily let him know about the emergency seat sack situation, the Donors Choose project that I created, and the amazing donors who helped make this possible.”

  • Kindergarten Glam Graduation

    Funded Apr 17, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support. This kindergarten class will walk the red carpet in styIe. I think my favorite thing will be the mini "Oscar" trophies! What a fun way to celebrate their successes this year. I cannot wait to share pictures of this amazing event with you. My students and their families will be ecstatic!”

  • Ready to Learn at Home

    Funded Dec 19, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity in making this project come to life. My students were thrilled to receive their at-home learning backpacks. We planned a day to open them together on one of our Google Meet sessions. I loved seeing their faces as they explored the items inside. I think that my favorite item is the number cards. They are durable and each number has a sand paper texture. This creates a wonderful tactile element to tracing the numbers, 1-20, with our fingers. The pencil grip is very helpful. Teaching writing virtually is a struggle. My students are able to hold their pencils correctly once the grip is placed on the end.

It has been so nice for each student have the exact same supplies. They know just where to store the items and I can easily model for them how to use each supply correctly. We have used the scissors, crayons, and glue to create model farm animal shelters. We gathered recycled materials and spent 3 days experimenting with using our supplies and creating our structures. My student's creations were amazing!

Now we are working on a Then and Now project. We are learning about the ways our world have changed over time. Soon we will be creating a paper model of a home that we might see today and a log cabin that someone could have lived in log ago. Our at home learning backpacks make learning easier, more fun, and hands on.”

  • Book Study Blockbusters!

    Funded Jan 5, 2019

My students love these books! Chapter books provide an added level of engagement in our classroom. We still continue with our weekly reading curriculum. It is meant for repetition and building fluency. But now I use the chapter books that you have so generously donated to teach text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections. When you can relate what you are reading to other books, your life, or the world around you, it is more meaningful. Now it's not, "I have to read", it's "I get to read!"

I remember reading many of these books as a child. I remember how they made me feel. I love being able to share this experience with my students. What an amazing opportunity to impact my students' lives!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fry

  • Stylized Seating

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

My students are so excited every day when they walk through the door! They know that they can choose a seat that works well for them.

We can move around the classroom with ease. Whether it's a group project, buddy reading, a science experiment students can work together in a space that is just for them.

I post photos for parents on a weekly basis. They always comment on how inviting the classroom is. Many parents wish that they could go back to school and be in our classroom!

My teacher desk has gotten the boot! I now use a student table with the risers. I can pull small groups without using a huge horseshoe table in the room that takes up too much space.

The yoga balls and lap desks are the class favorites! It makes students feel special to use them.

This beyond generous donation has breathed new life into our class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Fry

What if you had to go to work every single day and sit in the same-small-seat? Could you get the job done? Not me! And definitely not my students! My amazing students need a stylized space for learning where they can maintain focus. I have students who need yoga balls or wobbly stools to stay active, yet on task. Using table risers would accommodate students who are more comfortable standing while they work. And lap desks will keep students calm when they need their own space in the classroom to work independently. Having flexible seating will help my class succeed!
