  • 21st Century Skills With Dash and Dot

    Funded Apr 26, 2016

I'm not sure you realize the impact you've had on my classroom today. I saw an email come through and decided to check the information to share with my students when they returned from lunch. When I saw that it was fully funded, my heart soared. My students literally burst out with joy when I told them.

    .

The tools that you have funded will enable students to use their 21st century skills. What does that look like? To me, it looks like incorporating technology. It looks like finding hands-on things for them to do instead of a worksheet. It looks like getting up and moving instead of being a "sit and get" classroom. You've enabled me to use a tool I wouldn't have access to and you've allowed my kids to have joy in their learning. That is a priceless gift.

I hope to share with my colleagues a new technique in learning. Thank you so much. I can't wait to introduce this in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Frazer

I would like to express my most sincere thanks for your generosity. The equipment we were able to get thanks to donorschoose.org has greatly benefited our classroom. The students are having fun learning how to use the new equipment and we are experimenting with different classroom projects with our new technology.

I have one student in particular who uses the microphone and speakers daily. He is an ELL student who can comprehend oral directions in English but not written directions in English. I am able to record the directions for our assignments and he can listen to them as often as he needs to.

The students have had a great time learning to use the microphone to record things. We are working on creating a digital storybook as a class. I hope that they will be able to do this independently by the end of the year.

Again, thank you very much for donating to our classroom project. You truly have made the world a little better for my students.

    With love,

    Mrs. F. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Frazer

My students are wonderful! They come from all different backgrounds, including some who speak no English at all. We live in a community where they can still walk to school and parents feel safe about that choice. They are not wealthy students, we are a TITLE I school, with a high percentage of free/reduced lunch kids. They achieve very high, and I refuse to let them get out of this building without the skills they need to be successful. They are smart, kind, respectful...wonderful kids.
